Which out of these two is the best way to promote a product?

I have been reading a lot of articles about internet marketing and I am thankful to warrior forum as it has helped me a lot. I was now thinking about putting the information I have into execution. I wanted to start promoting some clickbank products. I have found around three products to promote. My question was, which would be the best method to do so?

Create a landing or squeeze page, collect opt-in's, offer a free report, and convince the person to buy the product through the report somehow. Use the list to convince them to buy those products. I will be using search engines to attract traffic, can this do better with PPC?

OR

Give simple product review and make sales with affiliate link in it? Using SEO only

The three products, which i would be promoting would be related to penis enlargement, farmville and and stop sweating. There are tons of affiliates promoting these products, but I am sure I can wait and do a lot of SEO and do my best to promote these sites.

Thanks for helping.

  • If it's a niche with long term potential (i.e. you can sell them on more than just a single product) go for the optin route. If it's a once only purchase then you can go for the direct sell.

It's not an "either/or" situation. There are many ways to successfully market a product.

The simple answer is to first identify your potential buyers. Then find a cost-effective way to reach them. Then test your offer(s).

Personally, I prefer to use PPC in the beginning of everything. Only once I have tested something with PPC (which is quick) will I know what the best keywords are to optimize a product/site for. Everything else would be putting the donkey behind the wagon.

But regarding your products you want to promote, stay away from it. PE is completely oversaturated and so is farmville. Stop sweating definitely sounds more niche but I;m not sure if the market is big enough to provide any significant amount of income.

I do pay-per-lead combined with PPC, maybe you want to have a whack at it as well?

SEO is free, PPC is not.

If you have more time than money, go for SEO.

I'm going to take a slightly different approach to what you're asking here:

I wanted to start promoting some clickbank products. I have found around three products to promote.
Did you research niches first and then decide on those three products?

Or did you find those three products and now you're figuring out how to sell them (and who to sell them too)?

I always advocate niche first, then find out what they want and then find (or create) products that matches what they want.

    That's just something to ponder.

    Now, about your question...

I always like the idea of building a list.

If you sell a product via an affiliate link, the people hit your site, click on your link and you NEVER see them again. You just cross your fingers and hope they buy something from your link.

On the flip side, if you build a list, then you have many opportunities to sell to these people. Not only do you have the chance to "close the sale" on your primary product via multiple emails, you also have the opportunity to sell them other products they need and want.

For example, let's say you were selling a diet book. You can create an autoresponder series to help you sell this diet book. Some subscribers will buy, some won't. But in all cases, you have the opportunity to pitch OTHER products to them, such as:

    Low cal recipe books
    other diet books and programs
    Diet food
    Exercise equipment
    Supplements
    Memberships
    Fat calipers and scales
    ... etc.

In other words, instead of hitting up someone once with an affiliate link and then constantly scrambling to find new people to sell to, when you build a list you can sell to these people over and over again.

    Cheers,
    Becky

I fully agree with Becky. Most people make the mistake of finding a product to sell first instead of finding a niche. This is backwards. Don't look for a product, look for a problem people are looking for solutions to.

Also building a list is so much better than not. Again, with a list you get to sell to your list over and over. If you don't build a list, you leave a lot of money on the table.

On top of what a lot of others have said on here, you should seriously look at promoting your own products. It really is the best way to build a business online.

With affiliate products, its even more important to build a list by having optin box becasue thats the only chance u will have to do this. Whereas with your won product u can always build list even after product purchase stage i.e optin box confirming their purcahse or optin box in thank u page.

But don't loose your advertising money when promoting affiliate products and directing straight to vendor page, always have your own little presell or squeeze page with optin box. And of the content and images, with permission of the vendor u can always use some of the material on the actual affiliate product salesletter.

Pay-per-lead is something I wont be able to do, because I have had a very hard time getting approved being an Indian. But is it more lucrative than clickbank if the same efforts are put in? Thanks for the advice, will definitely rethink about pe.

Yes, I definitely want to promote and sell my own products, but need some prior practical experience in internet marketing before that. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the great advice Becky. In the war room I went through StevenR's Super Simple Blogging. ($0 to $250 per day in 90-days with Micro Niche Blogs). While promoting and selecting the products, i have done something that is similar to what he does in his tutorials.

I have not yet started promoting any products, they are just a rough idea. Your post has helped a lot. Thanks a lot.

Shardul, I too agree with Becky. Many times as beginners we make the common mistake of getting a product without researching a NICHE that needs attention. I am not sure how you settled for these programs but nonetheless you have some work cut out for you. You must now investigate which of your products has a great potential to render the best sales. I happen to think that everything related to male potency and weight loss is very saturated. SURE, there are a lot of people looking to feel better about their performance and themselves but there are too many people competing for those customers.

Now, I also think that if you are willing to wait until your sites are SEO ready, then do so. I think promotional campaigns should go hand in hand with site optimization. Sure, you can do one without the other, but I have found better results when combining both. Optimizing the site and then investing in marketing or even PPC will probably render better results.

Again, this is my personal experience, others may differ, but one thing you have to remember that when it comes to Internet Marketing and business, results are ALWAYS individualized and vary from person to person and business to business.

    Good Luck!

Whenever jumping into a new niche, I always promote an affiliate product to a landing page first, make sure you can drive traffic and get sales before worrying about anything else, if you can't do that then all of the other stuff is pretty much useless
