Best place to sell is your local hospitals and cancer institutes. Get permission from the hospital authority before doing so.

Thanks! Would there be any possible larger scale marketing?

Hi I was in DECA for my high school too, you really can learn some great marketing there. So how much do you plan on selling the shirts for?

Here is what I would do, I would call all the radio and tv stations and tell them what you are doing and what your cause is for. I am willing to bet you can get a lot of free exposure that way. Talk to everyone who is on your team and ask them if they know anyone who has any connection in the local media. Often times someone might know someone who works at a station to increase the chances of you getting in. Hope this helps.

    Awesome!

The shirts are at a set price of $19.95 + $6 shipping.

Thanks! I'll look into the media promotion. I do have a question though: if you are representing a marketing firm to do this, how exactly do you explain that you are marketing for the charity cause? I mean, it doesn't exactly sound right if you tell the radio station: "Oh, I'm part of a marketing group for so and so, and I was wondering if you could promote their cause." Do I need to establish my team and I as part of their cause first?

As long as you are promoting for a nonprofit you should be given a lot more leeway. I would be forthcoming with everything that is going on and explain to them exactly what you hope to accomplish. When talking to some of these people make sure that they see your passion and enthusiasm for your cause. People will be way more likely to help you when they see that you love what you are doing and want to make a difference.

Also if you do talk to someone that cannot help you, make sure that you always ask them if they know of the best places to go and get some help. Often times referral will get you farther than anything else. Good luck.

        Valiant,
As well as the media route I'd consider national clothes chains. Approach the headoffices and explain the cause and they are non profit but you expect media attention. You can leverage the media attention and a good cause.

        Good luck.

Thank you both Raygun and Richard.

I am currently brainstorming ideas with my team for some strategies and I will definitely approach it with your ideas. One more question: how can $3,000 be utilized? I talked to my business teacher at school and he told me that $3000 will not get far in newspaper ads, etc. I plan on utilizing June somehow to help this cause, seeing as there is a cancer awareness week then, as well as Relay for Life. I also plan on using social media marketing, but again, I'm still unsure how the $3000 can come into play.

First of all congrats on taking on such a worthy project. I would hit all the radio and tv stations in your area like raygun suggested. Try looking for some IM'ers to help you get the word out. I know I'd be willing to send traffic your way to help support your cause. You'd be surprised how many people with lists would be willing to help you out. Look into setting up a social network at Ning.com to promote your project as well. You can get a viral campaign going in no time flat that way. Just set it up so when a member joins they are given immediate clear cut directions on what they can do to help support what you're trying to do. Basically you want them to buy a t-shirt (or several) and then invite all their friends to come join the network. Since your budget is tiny you can even get some web developers to create the site for you as their good deed of the month. In fact if you want I'd be willing to put my team on it pro bono. Just pop me a pm if you want to discuss it,

Thanks! I'll look into Ning - I want this to be a good learning experience. However, I don't have 50 posts yet to PM you.
