If you learn nothing else today, learn this word...

Resourceful

Learning to be 'resourceful' is an absolute key to success. You don't need to know EVERYTHING. All you need to know is how to find the things you don't know.

Need help setting up your auto-responder? Maybe you need help setting up an add-on domain name in your c-panel. Look on the providers home page for "Live Help" or "Live Chat."

If you have no "Live Chat" help, search Youtube for a video.

Search Google. Ask on a forum.

When all else fails, go to a library and ask a librarian.

The libariarian might not know how to install Wordpress in your cpanel, but they will know where every book, video and local business that can teach you are. Choose the one that you learn best from.

  • Thank you Dani, this is a great word to add to my "go to" list of words. I try to always add new words of empowerment to a list that I have. And even though I do a lot of research, it never occurred to me that I could actually add "Resourceful" this list.

      Glad to be of service.

We should make an All In One "Word Of The Day" thread.

Everyday, have a new word that applies to business, marketing, or Internet marketing.

At first sight I thought there were two 's' in resourceful. I googled it, conducted a quick research and found out I was wrong.

I think I understand the meaning of the word now

There's a product idea for you, Dani. You can create one of those "Word of the Day" calendars for marketers. Just come up with 365 words and associated tips. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find a company to create that style of calendar for you (i.e., one with 365 tear-off sheets for each day).

        Cheers,
        Becky

ETA: Get started now and you can start selling it by late summer/early fall -- the perfect time to pitch a 2011 calendar.

I tried following the tutorials in Word for "how to make a clickable table of contents" and they read like stereo instructions.

So I went to Youtube instead, and found a nice easy to follow video.

    Great post, Dani!

Besides being resourceful by learning how to find out what you don't know, you can also increase your resourcefulness by learning how to use what you already have.

    All the best,

      Excellent thought Michael.

Today's word of the day then shall be:

      ORGANIZATION

You need to organize your thoughts. Here's how:

      • Use Folders and Bookmarks to group subjects and websites together.
      • Make a list of the tasks you need to do to complete a project.
      • Use the short 'post it' notes and write the name of each task on individual post it's Get a large piece of cardboard or poster board and stick the post it's on it to make a mindmap.
      • Show your mindmap to someone else and discuss it
      • Use a 'presentation' program, [PowerPoint (or)OpenOffice and Google Docs are Free] to chew down the steps to bare bones
      • Make a calendar to determine a time frame to complete each task.
You'll be amazed at how much 'clearer' your businesses picture looks after doing this simple exercise.

Great point! It goes right along with getting started. If you wait till you know everything, everything will change, and you'll have to learn everything again, then everything will change.... You get the picture. Get started, be resourceful, find out what you need as you take action, and you will be ahead of more than 95% of the world!

Good post, Dani. Resourcefulness is something a good many people don't seem to have going for them. A lot of the emails I get are questions I've answered on my website if they'd just take a quick look before asking.

On another note, counting "resourceful," you've created three different "word of the day" posts. I'm afraid I'm going to have to fine you for exceeding the limit. See the judge before 5 pm!

        Hi Dani,

Actually, it might be better if you moved your "word of the day" posts to a blog. That's because threads like this tend to get deleted. (Anything that encourages people to "follow me" or any threads that get bumped repeatedly -- especially by the original poster -- have a habit of disappearing. )

You can change it to that, but that doesn't make it an all in one thread. I'm pretty sure that's moderator territory, or maybe Allen himself.

Also, Becky is right. If you keep bringing back the thread to add a new word it's going to get deleted, and if not, it will tick more than a few people off. Every month or two someone is calling for old threads to be deleted because they don't like them being revived. It would probably doubly anger them if you're constantly reviving your own thread. Your WF blog is probably the best place for it.
