How Important Is It to Have Dedicated IP Addresses When You Have Shared Hosting Accounts?

I've been buying dedicated IP addresses for almost all of my domains that I've purchased through Godaddy. It's only $1.99 a month or so but when you start having 20, 30 domains, it adds up quickly.

I only have basic Hostgator hosting account and obviously that's being on shared hosting.

So how important is it to have dedicated IP addresses for each and every domain I own?

I've submitted a ticket to Aweber asking if my delivery rate ever gets affected and they said that wouldn't have any affect on email delivery coming from them.

Before switching to Hostgator, when I first began going online, like many people, I did all of my services with Godaddy, including hosting. I noticed whenever I uploaded WordPress using their hosting, it slowed down until I gave dedicated IP addresses.

But now I am with HostGator, it seems to work just fine.

Truthfully, I've been buying dedicated IP addresses because it "sounds good", but not fully realizing what it all entails.

My question to you is... how has dedicated IP address helped your business?

    You dont need a dedicated IP address on shared hosting unless you are going to run SSL which actually requires a dedicated IP..

    Just another reason to dislike godaddy... They fool you into spending more money for their cheap out-of-date servers.

    I have many websites up and running and they do not use a dedicated IP unless I run SSL.
