Default YouTube Media Buys Explained --> $16,938 in Profit, Invested $50

Hello Warriors,

Two days ago I finished a marketing campaign that lasted two years.

In those two years I earned $16,958 for a product.

The owner of the product called me personally to let me know he is closing down the product as he is moving away from Internet Business, so now I'm replacing it with a ClickBank product and we will see how it does.

Let me show you what I did to invest $50 and turn five figures

Back in 2007 I decided I wanted to get into the Magic Niche, and sell someone's magic tricks.

I figured that I could utilize youtube and post magic tricks that I know and push traffic that way.

So in my search to figure out what type of magic tricks do well, I found it to be "Card Tricks".

I stumbled upon a Card Trick that was receiving a lot of favorites, high ratings, and comments. <--- And that is what is key for me when buying spots.

I decided to try to just get that video instead of creating my own

It's not about the views, it's about getting in early before they get the views.

Let me show you what I mean. The picture below represents the statistics of the video that I purchased a link on. It shows from the day it was uploaded --- present time.

Concentrate where you see A and B

These indicate that YOUTUBE, the site itself, has referred the video and traffic will now INCREASE.

I bought at the exact moment.

I emailed the account owner, and stated I wanted to buy his link for $50 per month, paid to him via paypal at the beginning of each month.

At this point the video had 200,000 views or so.

He went ahead and accepted the deal.

The video is now calming down in views, however I'm still getting around 50 - 100 uniques coming in from my position.

This link has brought me just around $1,000 per month from my $50 every month.

I'm sad to see the product owner leaving.

I have now replaced it with a CB product, did this last night, will see how that works.

If you want to see the video it's here -->
In any case, I hope this case study helps your endeavours.

Steve

P.S ~ This is no new concept, I believe J-MO might of thought of it first, but heres a good case of it working

NYC is my home.

Hi LMC

Do you mean you paid him to put your website or affiliate link on the description, or you bought the whole video?? Think you mean the first but just want to make it clear to everyone what you were paying for.

Most commonly people are paying video owners to include a link in the video description.

Gotta say, quiet a good trick

Can I ask what type of tracking software/analytics program are you using in that screenshot?

laurenceh,

I paid for the link --> which I setup through a redirect straight to the sales page.

The tracking is Youtube's analytics on the video.

It's very similar to what George Brown described in his free video. When you click on "Statistics" on any Youtube video, you will find the analytics.

Hey,

Yea George Brown has a good formula, but I see YouTube traffic working better for actual products over CPA offers as of right now... Im still testing CPA offers though.

I've received questions on how to find videos:

Really most of the good ones I stumbled upon spending an hour on Youtube, looking through popular videos, most viewed, and pretty trying to find a video owner who is not trying to monetize the video, and is just trying to contribute.

I will sometimes help them out by social bookmarking their video as well.

Hey munna,

Yea, thanks for the comments.

I think it is far one of the best forms of media buying that you can find besides animated banner ads and great text placement.

Steve..

Thanks for the info. It's always the simplest things that seem to work the best.

I once found a video on Youtube that worked for a CPA offer I was doing. Emailed the owner and asked if I could use it for an ad I wanted to run. They said sure. I copied the video, put a title clip for the opening and ending, uploaded it and made money.

It's amazing what can happen when you ask.

Hi,

I watched George Brown's videos on this as well. Very intriguing idea. However, I'd like to drill down a bit on being able to determine actual recent video views traffic. It would seem to me that through YouTube Insights, only the actual video owner would have accurate monthly view stats.

I'd like to know how you can determine the current approximate monthly views of a YouTube video from that Statistics Graph if you're not the account owner? How do you know if the video traffic has already peaked or not. Many of the video stats I viewed only have the most recent data point entries from 2009 or 2008. I would think that you would have to purchase the account. If you only purchased a link, then it would have a short lifetime since the next highest bidder to come along will replace your link.

Also, why are other people in this thread advising to use redirects in the link you purchase in the video description box? Is direct advertising against YouTube TOS?

Thoughts?

Thanks

George

Hi Steve

Thanks for sharing this amazing idea. I have heard this before but never saw an actual proof.

Is the link in description yours with info domain?

How is your new product performing?

What else do you look for (to advertise on video)? Is this method better for CPA or products?

Sorry too many questions.
Once again thanks

I just asked the owner of the video for a screen shot of the statistics, after two years of business with the video owner he was happy to send it to me. During the time of purchase I tracked the views over a 7 day period. However, the reason I bought the spot was because youtube referred it. In regards to the TOS, I don't believe so.

Nice ideas and information in this thread. Is this something that people have been doing for a long time? Are all decent Youtube videos snapped up like this quickly (i.e. is it a saturated method?) or is there plenty more to be made out there?

I'm off to investigate some in my niche.

Does the seller not wonder what you are doing and want to do it themselves? I guess not, in this case. Ought one draw up legal documents for such an arrangement?

Thanks!

You found a CPA offer you could monetize that's linked to Magic tricks?

** Never mind, I misunderstood.

You're presumably making them fill an offer in to get access.

This is probably obvious to most people, but how do you contact them to propose paying to put your link in their profile?

I've gone through a few videos, and if they don't have their own website in their profile, I don't see how else to contact them other than leaving a comment.

blackjack,

I don't know the answer to this question. Bottom line is I calculate how much money the ad is worth by CTR rates and try to offer them something they can't refuse.

In fact in one case I turned someone into a web design client cause they liked my website, and was wondering if I can build them one.

It's really about networking and discussing.

I contact them via the message system by using my YouTube account.

Also, most people use the same social networking name so I google their username and find them on other sites to contact them.

It depends on how active they are.

This sounds like an excellent idea! As someone already said, the simplest ideas work the best!

let's have this one reserved for something nice.

Hey,

Thanks for all the comments.

Did you consider asking him to license or sell the product to you, or consider making your own version of the product?

I considered taking on the product from him, but I don't have time to add more customer service to the current list that I have, so we shook hands and call it a day.

The new product is not converting nearly as close as the old one was, I am kind of disappointed, however I have a strategy I am working out.

NYC is my home.

WOW! Thanks for sharing. It just shows how much of a LEVERAGE money can buy. You could even expand into buying Facebook groups with tons of "fans"

Steve

I would love to know your next strategy.

How do you find these videos and what do you look for i.e. no of views, how old video is etc?

I have signed for your coaching through your other post and looking forward to first lesson.

Thanks

Covertguy,

I recently purchased a 500,000 facebook group. To test that out.

I'm only posting here to pick an arguement with you.

You say 16k and only invested 50 in the thread title yet you continue to say that you actually invested $50 per month.

Then the link that the video now points to doesn't even have an alexa rank. Therefore it couldn't have had any traffic to make that much money.

I would love to see this backed up with some real meat and potatoes beginning with showing us what link was there over the time period you made all this cash.

I want a good keyword researcher, not for min sites but for tech articles. Hit me up if you've got those skillz!

Great idea. How exactly did you advertise in the videos description?

I didn't think many people checked the description box. Did you use some kind of call to action or something?

What's the best trick? Putting 4 aces in one pile or turning $50 into $16,000+?

(I prefer the second one )

>> Best Success Rate <<
So far, I don't have 1 single student who has tested 5 or more campaigns without finding at least 1 winner. And I intend to keep this success rate.

I remember Jason Moffat was the first one that showed me in a class on how to capture traffic from established youtube videos by buying up videos that have already have a substantial traffic view then posting a url in the description field. Its been a great piece of advice and now I see everyone knows bout this trick now. On to the next crafty traffic siping formula.

I buy and sell closeout merchandise and also wholesale jewelry bags and also promote affiliate offers as well.

I've been trying to buy a link on some YouTube videos, but haven't had any luck yet... but I'm definitely not giving up
