Can Aweber or any of the other programs do this?

Does anyone know if any of the autoresponder companies are able to move somone to a new list while within an autoresponder series when they click a link?

For example LeadA optins for a free widget (of some sort) and then proceeds to get follow-up emails to take a look at ProductB.

LeadA clicks a link for ProductB and then gets MOVED to a new list that specifically targeted people interested in ProductB (but now no longer needs to be convinced to check out ProductB as they now have done so)

Is this do-able?

I keep seeing a lot of the program with the ability to activate triggers based on campaign/newsletter emails being clicked...or moving people to a new list when they subscribe to another list...but I can't seem to find one that does so with an autoresponder series?

Maybe I'm just missing it?

Anyone know a service that can do this?

I only have real experience with AWeber, and you can't do that with them (as you probably knew already). They do the automation thing, moving someone from one list to another, but not with just a click.

Your best bet is probably with a much smaller company who are more interested in new customers than they are in preventing spam.

Any ideas as to what smaller companies would be worth checking out?

I've started using iContact who provide the best email marketing API I've ever seen. Literally anything you could do yourself via the web interface can be done via API calls so your developer can apply any rule you want.

Although obviously there is skill and cost involved, not just point and click. So it's definitely a trade off.

  • I think this is what you mean Can I Move Subscribers From One List to Another? :: AWeber Knowledge Base

EDIT: And btw, direct responder can do it too and MailChimp not.

  • There is a simple way to do it, but it requires a little finesse and a "flow thru" page on your site. That is, if you are sending them an email where they click a link.

Warning: I am not saying this is kosher with any particular company's terms of service. This post is just to show how it is done.

Set up a page on your site to grab subscriber data from a GET and auto-submit it to the new autoresponder the re-direct to whatever page you want people to end up after clicking. This is a fairly simple script to create using PHP and JavaScript.

Use your autoresponder companies automation rule to say "unsubscribe from list A when a person subscribes to list B"

For the link in your email add their email as a GET to the end of the link. For example, if your link now looks like this:

    http://www.MyDomain.com

It would now look like this:

    http://www.MyDomian.com/?email=joe@joesemail.com

When they click the link they are sent to your form auto-submit page and they are then subscribed to list B and removed from list A.

Again, this probably violates some terms of service, so whether or not you use it is up to you, but it does work.

    Thanks for the advice guys!

I might take a look at Infusionsoft since I haven't really look at it since 2008...back then it was a pricey solution but maybe its not too bad now...

    Cheers!
