Does Anything Work on a Mac?

I was just looking at SE Nuke after reading about it through a client. Spent like an hour reading reviews and trying to think of a game plan before getting the trial.

Then saw a post that it doesn't work on Mac.

Started browsing a few other products (some related, some not). All were PC-only.

I know that I can run Parallels or something, but I don't want to.

What internet marketing products works online/on a Mac?

Thanks!
Love,
Shannon

      Which is worse...

      Being left handed?

      Mac User only?

      I dunno..

I guess we will find out when the Hackers decide to play "Cowboys and Macintoshes"... They already played "Cowboys and Windows"

Hope you aren't a Left Handed Mac User... now that would be bad...

Plus not to mention, being able to run, multiple copy's of the OS.. for testing etc...

Most IM software don't work on a mac. Exceptions are market samurai and articlesubmissionhelper.

Thanks. I've tried VM Ware and for some reason I just couldn't get it to work. I also tried Wine (?). Couldn't get that to work either. That's why I'm reluctant to try anything else. I also don't really know how badly I want these products....

I use Nichebot and that works for Mac cuz it's web-based. Just throwing that out in case others find this post looking for products.

  • All kind of programs run on macs... but not a lot of small developer created marketing software.

The market is too small to develop for both.

The problem is that Apple is often a pain in the rump for software developers to work with and development costs are much higher due to added development costs/time as well as in development tools. Therefore there has to be a very good financial incentive to put up with these facts. For most IM software, this incentive simply isn't there because the market is too small. The same is true of most other vertical markets outside of graphics and video processing.

The alternatives to PC only for the software developer are to make your application entirely web based or use a cross-platform development system, both of which bring in additional costs and difficulties as well.

My suggestion for Mac users who want to use PC software is to buy a desktop PC and connect it into a home network. Then you can access it remotely using terminal software from your Mac and have the best of both worlds. You can even do this over the Internet when away from home if you set things up right. Since you can get an adequate desktop PC for $300, even less if you go the second hand or refurb route, this solution can work well for many people.

I have read in several blogs that PC is more secure than a Mac. And windows 7 has made life better. Since mac users are less it is less vulnerable but it always may not be the case.

Just buy Parallels, install Windows, and use SeNuke. Sorry you had troubles with VMware but dont' let that stop you from running Windows on your Mac. Parallels is SUPER EASY to install.

This is why many of us use online tools... No virus to worry about, no system resources taken up by software, no worry about the company removing your license, and many more reasons.

Online tools are the way to go....

I have a mac and I love Parallels.

Just get it and don't look back!

You'll have the best of both worlds. Use the Mac for everything and only deal with Windows based stuff when you need to.

He is also an admitted "non-techie".

      This speaks volumes.

I respect Frank to an enormous degree, but the fact that he uses a Mac means nothing.

This would be analogous to me saying that I like using Spalding brand tennis rackets... Well, I don't PLAY tennis, so why should my using that brand have any influence on your buying decision?

The point is it makes no difference. Use what you like and what's good enough to make you a lot of money. If you don't like mac, don't use it. If you do, hire someone to use PC programs for you. That's my opinion.

Well I agree with you there.

Just making sure that the whole "this successful guy uses this, therefore it's the best" argument was properly debunked.

Get the best of both worlds.

A Mac for every day use, then use VMWare to run Windoze virtually on your Mac. I have a virtual machine for each Windoze package I use, keeps things nice and simple... just the way Windoze likes it.

    Thanks.

I just saw that Parallels has a trial period, so I can use it, see if I can get it to all work out, then purchase a key. :-)

Will try that in a few days.

That's why I use both. I love my mac but it hates .exe programs so I keep a pc on hand just in case. I really do need both, I couldn't say that I could perform 100% of the tasks I need to solely on a mac. I think the reason why Apple they doesn't cater to .exe based software programs is because of the virus threats.
