What is the benefit to building a list? Let me show you...

I wanted to write this because I consistently get emails from my subscribers asking if they should start building a list.

It has been studied that people are more likely to buy something after seeing if 6 or 7 times instead of only once. If you can follow up with a potential customer you are going to be much better off than just sending people straight to a sales page.

Here are some quick stats just from today:

It pays to build a list and follow up with them.

I am surprised people ask if they should be building a list. Anyone who reads anything at all on internet marketing will soon see that it is the number one objective in order to achieve success.

Yeah, my list is mainly "newbies". Some people don't know what an autoresponder is

I think I asked this question on this forum once. Because somebody put this as a blue print of IM business:

    1. Find a hungry crowd that is looking to fix a problem.
    2. Make them opt in to your email list.
    3. Sold them an affiliate product to help them fix their problem.

Now the question I asked is - If you help them rid of the problem, what's the point to building a list? Hypothetically, let's say my hungry crowd is teens with acne. I found a great affiliate program for a perfect product that heals acne. I sell it to my crowd and make good commissions on this. The product works as described and all my leads are acne-free. Everybody is happy. Now I no longer have hungry leads. At least not looking to fix the same problem...
You see what I am saying?

ok you now have a list of teenagers that have cured their acne, think of another problem or niche that teenagers face daily, and begin the process all over again.

I have been a internet marketing hobbyist for a number of years. It took me a long time to realize that if I am going to be successful that I have to build a relationship with my customers. Sure you can make a few bucks with some quick hit methods, but I truly believe the money is in the list. Now I just have to start building mine. :-)

It depends. If your subscribers signed up for your "Quick Acne Remedy" list, you can't just start sending them your "Dating Success" newsletter, even though this kind of information may appeal to them. Right?

That is exactly why I love a good incentive script. You are building a solid list of people interested in the latest CPA offers. If your traffic is targeted, that is.

The biggest mistake I've ever made at this thing was not building (or understanding the power of) lists in the first year or so. I just didn't get it, and it's probably cost me thousands of subscribers in all the momentum it would have gained me right at the start.

Now, *everything* is geared towards list bulding.
