Marketing for Accountants firm

Hi all,

I'm interested to know your thoughts on marketing (online and offline) a firm of accountants who would work for a large range of clients and offer a range of services.

I was thinking about them running seminars about tax issues, offer an open evening about tax for SME businesses, start a referral scheme amongst their current clients.

Looking forward to hear your ideas.

How have they been marketing their firm? Yellow pages? Website?

      Hi Kenthomson,

Website, YP, a couple of landing page sites but nothing much really. Just thinking of new ways to bring some creativity to their marketing, both offline and on.

They even go as far as providing remote IT support to their clients! Excellent service to the client but don't know if they have a deditcated IT support staff to do this properly. Might be someone who just knows their way around a PC. Good idea though.

All of the above are good ideas if properly implemented and successful. Seems to
    me they would work.

If they do the open evening chat, that would be a great opportunity to get contact
details of some kind. Perhaps offer people a small amount of time to come in for a free
consultation. They should do that because they have a captive audience. If they offer
a free chat, I don't know - 15 minutes, 30?, then each step is helping to build a little
more of a positive relationship. Hopefully they'll be able to convert some of them.

    Also...

Obviously I don't know, but I'm sure you know that it's much easier to sell to existing
customers. So maybe have them think of ways to maintain contact with existing customers
    and do something.

They could do something like get interviewed on local radio. If they can, then they could
    mention doing the evening chats/seminars.

Do they do business at a distance? If so, maybe hold free webinars.

Have them think of something that would be of value to the local community, or plural.
It must be something that gives or provides in some real way to the locals.

Then, do press releases and make sure they get interviewed on the radio and by local
    print media.

Great exposure. Build relationships and convert.

    How's their SEO efforts?

Are they doing well with ppc?

How about Google local search? Are they on that?

They could do JV's. Have they?

How could they implement a JV? Interesting concept but don't see the angle yet. Perhaps with lawyers?

Anything is possible with the right offer.

I don't know who they cater to, or what they specialize in. But that's ok.

Here's just a general template kind of example...

They could offer free consulting or some free service to a business. A
business with good repeat customers is best.

The accounting firm could have an offer printed that the business will
recommend to its customers. The accounting firm can offer something
either of real or perceived value. A discounted fee for some service.

Give it scarcity so only good thru some date.

The exchange of value between two businesses and offering value to
customers. Has to be all win-win-win.

Also, forgot to mention this before...

They can do postcard mailings. They can be effective if it's done right.

Let's see....took a look at your latest threads....

On 3/1 it was "offline marketing for private members club"
On 3/4 it was "offline marketing for lawyers"
On 3/9 it was "offline marketing for registering marks company"
On 3/10 it was "offline marketing for car dealerships"
On 3/11 it was "offline marketing for beauty salons"
On 3/15 it was "offline marketing for a stripper company"
    & today, 3/18 it's "marketing for accountants"

I have some side bets going with some other warriors as to what will be next...
marketing for funeral homes maybe? j/k...

That's a lot of questions in a very short time.....what gives?
I'm thinking your writing a book, with the offline knowledge of others....maybe I'm wrong but time will tell (as soon as the WSO coms out...lol)

Anyways...if you took your exact thread titles & googled them you will find a boatload of info for each topic....

Many of the autoersponders out there (aweber, getresponse, icontact, etc...) have articles on "how to market to XYZ..." try looking into some of those...a lot of solid info there...

    Good luck,

      Hi Ken,

Thanks for taking such an interest in my threads.

It's a shame how you would think I'd be writing a WSO.

I'm just someone who's interested in how to market other businesses, and if you noticed in my threads I always try to give a few examples to get the thread started.

BTW if I'm buying a WSO and I am unsure about the person selling it I will try to check out their posts and find out as much information about them on the WF to establish in my mind whether they are the real deal or whether they are someone who may have written a book "with the offline knowledge of others".

I appreciate your comments on my previous threads, however, in this case you will be waiting a long time for my WSO.

        It's not just yours...it's a habit of mine...lol

It's a shame how you would think I'd be writing a WSO.
That was more jokingly stated, but hey, who am I to say....heck, I'd probably buy it if you did...lol

Many of your past threads have some solid info...It's a good thing for offline marketers...was just a bunch of question close togther...maks one think...

Actually, it's a good practice to follow....always check out those your unsure about, especially for WSO...a little investigation can save you a fist full of money...

I appreciate your comments on my previous threads, however, in this case you will be waiting a long time for my WSO.
If you have any offline questions...please ask...thats what we are here for...just space them out a little...

I like the idea of a seminar on tax issues - it'll attract the attention of many adults who don't like managing tax records.

Seminars would work well for a variety of topics:

    Tax issues for personal tax
    ............... for small business
    ............... for seniors
    ............... for investors
............... for those who experienced forclosure

Setting up accounting for home based business or Internet based business...

Geez, I can think of a bunch of topics...

All will help establish themselves locally as an expert & gain them clients....

Have them video tape the seminars, edit them into segments & post on youtube....
Maybe a membership site or a paid forum with full seminars posted... for local & national exposure...

Get them to attend local events like meetup.com or local chamber network lunchoens or "speed networking" groups...where there are a bunch of local people / businesses looking to network....

Chamber of Commerce meetings where they offer up-to-date business tax info, accounting practices & loop holes....

    Just a few.....

It really depends a great deal on their target market. I know you said a wide range of clients but I would approach an individual differently to a small business or a large corporate client.

A business owner will want to know what he is going to get out of the deal so maybe the could offer a free mini report on what can be improved to streamline the accounts and save the client money. Notice the last 4 words LOL... Very important.
