I Wonder How I Landed On Google Page 2 For My Keyword. Can Anyone Tell Me How??

Hi guyz, I have a puzzle to solve in which i may need your opinion. Last day when i checked my google analytics ststistics for one of my blog, i noticed that google has sent me some visitors. The strange thing is, the blog has just two posts and i never did some extreme marketing for it. you can check it out yourself. See my signature for 101 spiritual ebook. I mean there is nothing fancy about it. I just made this blog to giveaway an ebook that contains links to some 101 self improvement ebooks. there are two posts in total, one is for that ebook, and the other one has a link to one of my other blog.
You can check it yourself, go to google and insert the keyword "free self help improvement e books". You will see my blog on #12.

Now i dont understand how this happened. There is no good content on the blog, just two posts and i never did quite marketing for it. I just started a thread in this fourm in mind warrior section. Used some traffic exchange and thats it. A total of 357 visits and its about a month old.

Now, can anyone tell me how i got on page two of google. Coz i want the same to happen to my other blogs. The one i tried to promote the most is not even in first 50 pages of google, The forex niche based in my sig, And this one landed on page 2. Please do give your opinion.

If that is the exact keyword you are ranking for then the answer is relatively simple. The kw itself, exactly as is, has only 2 competing pages when you search for it in quotes and no one is optimizing for it as an intitle search revealed 0 competition.

Basically, most people will search for "free self help improvement ebooks" which Google also suggests in lieu of "e books".

But you should also have a look at whether it's worth ranking for that keyword, i.e. are there enough searches per month for it?

Thanks Anne for your opinion. I checked google adword's tool and it say there are about 2,900 searches per month for that keyword. I am also getting traffic for some realated keywords like free spiritual ebooks. They also dont have so much searches per month. I think that is the reason why i got there. Not much competetion for that keyword?

Well if it gets 2900 searches per month then you have a winner with so little competition

"Free spiritual ebooks" also has reasonably low competition, not quite as spectacular as your first kw but there are still only 6,600 pages total.

So, the answer to ranking your other blogs would be to go keyword hunting and find similar terms that are easy to rank for.

The search results of "free self help improvement ebooks" and "free self help improvement e books" seem the same, interesting!

Because it's a veeeeery loooooong tail keyword. that's why

P.S. anything that has the word 'free' in it is baaaaad! People specifically searching for freebies are not paying customers

Maybe you are right Activetrader. But free spiritual ebooks are is not long and is related to that long tail keyword. i am on page 4 for free spiritual ebooks too.

Also, see my P.S. in the reply above. I don't know many people who optimize their pages for the word 'free', in fact it is often a negative keyword for Adwords campaigns

Reverse engineer Tellmans list building projects and see how many times he goes after free.

250,000 list members can't be all bad .

May be you are right Activetrader. But that does not concern me as i dont have anything to sell on my blog. Besides i think the word FREE is a nice attention graber.
