Of the ones I've tried, I like WP Robot the best. The latest version is particularly flexible (I think it's on offer as a WSO at the moment). As far as results go, where sites have just been left to their own devices, it's brought in sufficient revenue on most of them to cover domain and hosting expenses and show a bit of profit on top (although there will have been other factors at play too, such as SEO plugins, choice of keywords and domain etc), but I find that adding the odd bit of my own original content now and again more than justifies the time spent, even if it's only one post every few months.

Maybe leaving it to it's own devices would be more profitable for me if I set it to post more stuff, more often, but I pretty much just use it as a happy medium between having nothing new to offer the search engine bots when they come crawling, and hammering the database to death. It's not as if adding a bit of original content ever killed anyone.

that really depends on your goal. if you are happy with few dollars here and there, it will be ok. but to make serious money, you will need to have your own unique content, concept, site, and promote the hell out of your site.
