How you can start making $500-$1000/month on autopilot via wordpress blogging

Hi,

I noticed one thing that has become quite popular is blogging, and many people like the 'basic' monetization (blogging) so thought I would give a relatively simple formula to those want to get started 'quickly'.

This strategy uses adsense, but just so you know, if you want to make the 'real' cash, you should expand upon this. (Adsense is a beginner step to true monetization). But anyways.

1. Get a web host, and ideally 5-10 domains. This strategy does require an initial investment of $100-$200 (and you can even get it for less if you shop around). But this is your 'seed' money.
2. Set up wordpress on all 5-10 domains. (or hire someone to do so through an outsourcing site for $25-$50).
3. Set up an account with google adsense if you haven't already.
4. Either write a set of 50 articles yourself, or hire someone to do so.
5. Add a 'ping' list to your wordpress account. (Simply search in google for stuff like 'best ping list').
6. Post & publish the articles on each wordpress site so they 'drip' (i.e., they 'automatically' publish gradually over the course of say 30 days). Make sure the articles are in different orders (so say on website #1 you might publish #1, #2, #3, etc, etc... while on website #2, you publish in order #50, #49, #48, ... etc).
7. While not super sexy, you'll probably find you start making $1-$2/day on each website in adsense revenue.
8. Do the math, 10 sites * $1/day * 30 days = $300/month. If it's $2, then $600/month.

Total time & money invested assuming you did everything yourself (i.e., including you understand wordpress installs & do the article writing)... probably about 20-40 hours. (I.e., 1 weeks work). If you know how to outsource, about 5 hours. Nice monthly income after that -- $500/month.

Not the sexiest in the world, but it works. And with the $500+ you generate in seed money, you can use it to either expand upon this strategy, or buy useful marketing products to learn how to expand your business further.

EDIT #1. Make sure you have your domain name & articles related, and that it is for a particular niche. I.e., if you are talking about weight loss, make sure your articles are about various diet programs and/or related weight loss techniques, etc. That will help ensure you maximize your clicks. If you want to take it a step further, you can, of course, do more detailed keyword research with the google keyword tool, wordtracker, etc, etc, and check out the competition (i.e., via ezine articles) to see which articles rank the highest.

EDIT #2: I appreciate the feedback some people have provided. Apparently, while this method has not worked for everyone, it has actually worked for me. I picked a random domain name (no keyword relevance whatsoever), placed a random bunch of articles on it (totally un-related, loosely themed), and have actually had success with adsense as well as other forms of advertising on it... So, of course you are welcome to try this yourself and see what kind of success you achieve.

Anyways, good luck!

    Hmm.

    Good, but not great.

After all fifty articles have been "dripped" you going to end up with 5-10 domains all on one IP with all the same content.

So, either spread your hosting around, or don't post all the articles to every site. Perhaps add different articles from EZA or other directories to each site to at least give off an appearance of "uniqueness".

Better still have fifty articles created for each site, and spread the hosting around.

With a Hostnine reseller account you can set up each site with a different IP in different parts of the world.

So that blind people can hate them as well.

    • Yes, of course you can have different IP addresses. I'd recommend that, as it would look more 'authoritive' in the search engines' eyes.

One glaring exclusion is domain and keyword research.

      Hi Lisa,

Interesting point -- but I would disagree in this case because the goal is not necessarily getting "qualified" leads for a particular product, but much rather just long tail keywords, etc... yes, if someone found say particular keywords that ranked highly, they would be more 'likely' to rank higher for a particular search term, but the goal here is simply to get adsense revenue on autopilot.

In which case, simply picking any domain that sounds nice, and related articles that sound nice, would work.

Also, the $1 a day is not guaranteed if you did not do proper keyword research. Also, what are your promotion methods?

I truly hope there are no beginners/newbies out there listening to this. A "nice sounding" domain may generate 0 searches, and related articles, no matter how nice they sound, aren't going to generate any income if they're not based on solid keyword research.

You're simply not going to generate any AdSense revenue if you're not targeting keywords that people are actually looking for. It has nothing to do with qualified leads for a particular product.

      Hi Lisa --

Ok, I do agree with you that you need a 'general' theme, i.e., say 'weight loss', etc -- but for this strategy, you do not need to have 100% targeted keywords. (I've done it, and it works). Of course you would have it around a certain theme, but perhaps some people may not realize that, so I will edit my original post to include that.

I have to say you must be very lucky if this works for you as you explain it. I've spent quite a lot of time with nice-sounding domains related but not targeted articles, and had dismal Adsense checks to show for it.

In my experience, making money requires a bit more effort.

      Agreed with Lisa,

keyword research is imperative especially for the type of "micro niche" websites you're talking about (or at least it sounds like you're talking about micro niches)

If you were talking about a huge content site on a particular broad topic then after a while you could probably get away with writing articles however you like and getting picked up for long tails but it's more difficult for micro niches in my experience.

Would either of you like to give a 5 bullet point howto or give a couple links to howto do the keyword research?

BTW: I'm not trolling... I found this thread searching for "keyword research" and am legitimately interested.

Keyword research is usually done by going to the "google keyword tool". Afterwards, you simply look for a particular keyword phrase, see how many searches it gets, and make a decision (based on how competitive it looks) whether to write an article geared towards that. There is a lot more to keyword research than that, but that is a basic/good overview.

      Cheers!

I've found various keyword tools... but everyone says "how competitive it is".

How do you measure a competitive keyword?

Maybe a couple examples would help?

For 50 articles, I'd rather publish them at hubpage for free (no webhosting cost) and earn a dollar or more per day in Google adsense; as long as each article has excellent well-researched keywords.

    just my 2 cents, cheers

hubpages lets you include your own adsense blocks?

Sorry, but this way too simplistic. Without proper keyword research, no way you're gonna make a buck a day in Adsense unless you get really lucky. At least not until things age for a while. This sounds like a theory that has been untried. Looks good on paper - doesn't really work in the real world. NO offense, but newbies will see this and think wow, this is easy! It almost never works out this way.

Also, the advice about using different IP's is wrong as well. I have over 100 sites on the same shared server and IP and never any issues of any kind with rankings, etc. It's a common myth, but that's all it is.

As a newbie myself. I just think it's best to build on a solid foundation and have started finding out the importance of good keyword research. It's like you saying spaming is ok.

    Hi All,

Many methods here do benefit in generating automatic income. One thing that get you started, makes it exciting, and keeps you motivated is creating websites that fit your particular interest. If you have a broad interest, something like (estoregoods.com) would cover that interest. It helps to know how to create the sites yourself and other mechanics that goes along side the making money process so that you can save $$$ in the long run. Well, hope this helps to your success!

I've actually seen this method work. I agree that the keyword research is everything. If you get it right, then money will start rolling it daily. If you screw it up, then it would be a wasted effort.
