Have We Forgotten Where Our Posts Go?

I wake up in the morning and look through the Main Discussion Forum and
I see, all the way down the line...

It's like weeding time at the farm.

Have we plumb forgotten where our posts are supposed to go?

Talking about your birthday belongs in OT

Talking about PPC belongs in PPC

Talking about SEO belongs in SEO

Main Discussion is where we talk about making money.

How hard is that to understand?

Maybe if people posted stuff where it actually belonged we'd have an
easier time finding things and parts of this forum that few people go to
might actually start to get some traffic.

My thanks to the mods for trying to keep this place in order.

** EDIT **

I didn't do them all, but below are the main sub forums. They are clearly
marked as to what goes in each one.

All you have to do is read.

Main Internet Marketing Discussion Forum

Allan didn't do all this work for it just to be ignored.

    Well said.

What you ususally find in most forums is that there tends to be one central area that gets the most attention. Over time people forget that there are sections that are more relevant to what they are posting.

One area gets most exposure and tends to be where people end up posting, forgetting about the rest of the forum.

But you are right - it would be better if threads were posted in the relevant sections.

...And trying to sell your ebooks or services belong in the paid sections of the forum.

Trying to form JVs with other members belongs in the JV forum.

Trying to spam the forum -- well, they belong on another planet.

      Exactly Becky!

I was wondering if I was the only one noticing sales pitches and looking for joint ventures splattered every where as of late.

      And as for the spam...

Ideally you keep them to yourself. Failing
that.. the Off Topic forum would be my
first choice. Unless of course it's about
Gurus, Clickbank, PayPal, etc. etc. and
then you just wait for another one to
come along... as they do with regular
      monotony. ;-)

Old fellow, you are a little slow on the uptake today. I do believe that Wags' OP - well intentioned as it may be - is a rant, not a post about making money. Hmmm. Conundrum. Does it belong here, or in the OT where it won't help here.

I can hear some leaky old valves in Mr Taylor's brain starting to come under pressure.

Kevin, you're right...it's the irony of this whole thing. But in OT, this
would have fallen on deaf ears and died like a snake in the arctic.

And the bigger irony is, those who will read this and understand probably
already know it and do it.

          Those who don't, won't care.

It's like preaching to the choir...another problem with well intentioned
          threads here.

The ones who need it the most, either don't read it or ignore it.

** EDIT ** We currently have 7 threads on page one of main discussion
that had to be moved to other forums

Thats most likely why the others posted in the main forum instead of the OT or other pertaining forum categories....

Me personally...I'm glad they get moved. I often remind others that they would be better off in the proper forum section....

Look at the upside though, if it's posted in the off topic forum it will stay on the first page a lot longer.

To me this forum only consist of three parts.

The main area where we discuss all sorts of stuff that we are inerrested in, The WSO section where I buy stuff, and the Warrior for hire where I get my content and backlinks.

I seldom visits other parts of the forum. Are they as active as the main internet marketing discussion forum?

    Well said.

I think people post in Main Discussion because it gets the highest amount of traffic... problem is, so many people post there that threads don't really stay on the first page for very long.

Then, say someone's trying to find something through the Search function... say it's about Adsense.

All the recent Adsense posts are in Main Discussion, NOT the Adsense/PPC/SEO forum where the searcher is looking. Their question may well be answered in one of the Main Discussion posts, but too bad they won't get to see it because THEY CAN'T FIND IT.

For organizational purposes, it's best to make use of the subforums. You'll probably get better responses anyway - as the people lurking there are already interested in what you're generally talking about.

Isn't it somewhat ironic that this thread itself is in the wrong section?

Well, given that a super mod actually replied to this thread and didn't
        move it, I guess not.
