Dragon Naturally Speaking - Andy Williams & A Question

1. Has anyone used the "Essentials" version of Dragon Naturally Speaking ($40 at WalMart)?

Significantly different from "Standard" (which I know has good reviews)?

2. If you want to see Dragon Naturally Speaking in action, Andy Williams has a short video on his newsletter at:

  • Get the profesional edition. Much better, and down the road you'll like it.

Alternatively, get an iPhone and download the app

I appreciate the advice, but have you actually USED the DNS "Essentials"?

I'm not a cheapskate, but if it does the "essential" job, that's all I need for my purposes.

    Hi Terry,

Ive been using DNS 9 for many months now. Its great for making quick articles especially if you get the hang of making high CTR EZA articles. One other thing I make use of it is when im developing products. Really handy.

And yes I believe there's an Iphone version as well.

  • Myself I use the Preferred Edition. One of the reasons being is I also have a voice recorder I take everywhere with me. When I have a thought or an idea, or even an item I remembered for something as simple as my grocery list I record it on my recorder.

I then import that audio into DNS and it converts it to text for me.

Great for when I am creating a product and have a thought I can catch that thought immediately rather then trying to recall that thought when I get back to my computer.

Compare the different version and if you don't need the additional features then Essentials should serve you well.
