Pure article marketing SEO

I'm wondering if anyone here uses only article marketing to get links and have you been able to rank for competitive keywords using only articles no other methods of link building.

I'm trying to gauge the effectiveness of it, I use many different methods to gain links so I can't say one area is more powerful than others, would be interesting to here other people's experience.

Article Marketing is a great synergistic component. Give it a shot and you'll see a difference right away. You'll get immediate traffic as well as long-term traffic from organic searches.

When your website is essentially maxed out with content, article marketing is an awesome way to get even more targeted search engine traffic. You can rewrite your website content into articles and start submitting elsewhere.

Plus, it's a very nice way to build credibility and brand your name and product.

I had a site that ranked well for semi-competitive terms using only forum links/signatures, but I dont know about article submissions...

I sold a site for about $8.5K after I built it into an $800/month affiliate earner a few years ago. I did a handful of link exchanges and nothing else but article marketing. I think it depends on the niche, though. I've noticed that some underserved niches get a ton of article views and can quickly move up the SERPs for good keywords, but those are hard to find (at least, they are for me). If you're talking about highly competitive niches, I think you'd have to be a major article marketer (10-20 per day) and submit them to all the top directories for months/years to have a shot at cracking a 1st or 2nd page in Google SERPs for the main keywords. I don't think articles alone would cut it for the seriously competitive niches.

I did it for ultra competitive niches like "make money online - Page 3", "affiliate marketing - page 1"

For affiliate marketing, I used other things, but article marketing was the main seo strategy.

      Hi BillionaireHuman

I use posted articles as my main source of getting backlinks. This is not because I prefer it to others but because it is the way I know and it does work well.

For example I wrote an article on easy to play guitar songs 21 days ago. I posted it to an article directory and it has been published twice and given me over 200 clickthroughs.

I cannot think of another way to get this.

While backlinks and all the off-page seo factors matter, IMO the real focus should be on-page SEO...
And of course a combination of both is excellent.
