Uploading Multiple WP PlugIns ?

I have a lot of plug ins I would like to upload to a website. I have them all in a zip file. But I am unclear how to get them into the site.

I tried to upload them through the WP site itself. But it did not work. Then I installed WP Easy Uploader which says it can work with zip files. It said I was successful but I dont see my plug ins.

I know how to upload the plug ins one by one via Cpanel. But how do I upload a whole zip file full of them?

Thanks!!!

I don't think you can upload them all at the same time, but I may be wrong. The way I do it is to unzip a zip file. Then I use my FTP software (filezilla) to upload the 'folder' which has just been unzipped into my 'wp-content/plugins' folder on my blog.

    I hope this helps

Follow Joe's advice. Open your zip file and upload each plug in individually. It may take a bit of time, but there's no reason why it won't work.

I don't see why would that be necessary...

Unzip all on your computer in the same place (folder).
Open your FTP client and select all > right-click > Upload.

That's why the FTP clients (software) were invented: File Transfer Protocol.

If you've got shell access, you could simply upload the .zip file, login to your shell and unzip on the host - this would not be particularly easier, but if you've got a large number of files, it's quite a bit faster.

The winzip I have is older. Can I unzip everything and somehow move it to filezilla.

It almost sounds just as easy to load each plug in one by one directly into cpanel.

I don't know why so many people have this misconception about Filezilla (or any other FTP program for that matter) that they have to "move" stuff into Filezilla. Total nonsense...

Search youtube or the web for how to use a ftp. In all cases it has two parallel windows: on the left you see your own hard drive - on the right the server you are connecting to. Just like to Windows Explorer next to each other and seeing all the files and folders.

The files on your HD can be anywhere... just highlight them and upload.

It all depends on what you are planning on doing. If it's just a single blog then the easiest way to upload is likely one by one as you often need to change some settings at same time and means you won't forget any of them. I have a huge folder of plugins on my pc and sometimes I draw them from here yet sometimes it's just as easy to run a quick search within the dashboard when you know names.

When you get into installing multiple blogs you can then make things a little easier to manage by creating multiple folders, each acts as a profile for the type of site that you are going to upload and then you simply mass ftp the plugins to each site.

Last but not least there are several premium scripts that will actually install multiple blogs including all of the plugins and a theme. You can manage multiple profiles with these as well. Whilst this is technically the easiest way, in my eyes it is only worth it for large numbers of blogs at a time as there are initial costs for the software, a learning curve and also time spent creating your templates.

Good luck with whichever method you choose!
