EzineArticles not enough exposure

I have 2 articles right now on ezines, both are approved and they are using the same keyword, one can be found on the search engine by typing my keyword in, the other can't be found on the first 2 pages

I only have 60 article views now, and I suspect about 5 belongs to me or something and only 10% worth of click throughs in that number,

May I know how can I expose my articles more before more articles bury mine in?

Do you mean you want it exposed more in EZA, or in the search engines?

Once an article is approved, switch your focus to linking back to it from everywhere you can. It'll do you much more good to have it ranking high in Google than it will to have it more exposed in EZA.

(Apologies if you were asking something completely different.)

Oh, because my articles are linking back to my website. I should work on backlinking my articles now?

Jay, I strongly advise you to have a long, careful read through all the incidental comments about this point (and others!) in this thread.

It's a long read, but fantastically useful. There's enough information in that thread for anyone to make a living from article marketing. And taking the time to read through it will give you far more realistic insight, help and understanding than you can get from any number of people telling you to promote EZA's site at the expense of your own. Slow down a little. Be careful and thoughtful about whose advice you take. Just because people are posting "authoritatively" doesn't mean they necessarily know what they're talking about.
Thanks for the link. The way I work, my website basically covers everything from A-Z in a short sweet and working order. I write my articles such that it's an in-depth analysis, I hope this way people trust me more, thus trust my website and the products I offer.

Though right now, I'm quite excited because my 2nd article is getting quite alot of views, it just got approved less than 12 hours ago and it's appearing at the 4th position of the most commonly used keyword.

I guess I'm kinda anxious to see some result right away, but I think it's time I take a step back, continue to write more articles and do a mass upload and let it happen on its own.

The only sure outcome of doing that will be that EZA will always outrank you for your own keywords! So think carefully before deciding whose advice to listen to.
Obviously it's better to just get pages within your own site ranking well in Google, but the OP wanted more exposure to his existing articles. That's why people were suggesting a backlinking plan of attack.

Putting up articles and videos and trying to get them ranking on page #1 of Google isn't a terrible plan, especially if you don't yet have the ability to build your own massive sites.

Hi jay, if that article has 4th position what you could do is use a backlink service like angelas packs and backlink that url so that your article moves up in your rankings. Another technique you could use is whenever you are submitting another article on the subject include that articles URL on the subject to get more link juice flowing to that article. POS 1 is your target...GO GET EM boy!!!

Yes, that's a very basic plan but one that really does work. Have your articles linking back to your site, and then create backlinks to your articles.

Eventually, you'll have your articles coming up in people's Google searches, then they'll click on them, read them, then click on the link in the article back to your site (hopefully!)

    Hi,

Here's a plan that'll make your articles much much more valuable than they already are:

Open up any article in your category, and scroll below to where it says "Most viewed articles in this category"
Open up the 10th and 15th article from that list and see their view count.

Now you have a good enough idea of how many views you need to feature in that list.

Drive traffic to your EZA article through social media, bookmarking etc. (PPC, PPV etc are not allowed)

Once it has enough views it will start featuring in that list which means: each and every article in that EZA category will have a link to your article.

Hence -> your article gets more views, your article gets a better PR, your article gets to the top of the search engines due to better PR, your article gets even more views.

And yes, the more views your article gets, the more visitors your website gets.

    Piece o' cake!

My question is, you said the keyword can be found in Google but is it a high traffic keyword (do you know the month search volume)?

Sometimes your articles rank late in the search engines, even they have been submitted and accepted at the same time. If you want to show your articles in SE with better rankings, then you need to create some backlinks too as mentioned above. A press release is a good idea.

    Hey, JayYamada

I've been using social bookmarkings such as Jumptags, Instablogs and mr Wong for the backlinks. You should also use pingler.com and / or ping-o-matic to ping your articles. Sometimes I see in a few hours the article appearing at the google search results.

    Hope this helps

If you are wanting to get ranked in google and to stay there long term with one of your articles, do a few links to it so that is will stick. YOu wont need to do a massive amount if you are already getting up in the rankings.

But if you want to take over that keyword, write anouther atrticle and do the same thing as you did with the first one that got ranked. 2 articles on the top 5 of google will give you a decent amount of traffic.

A press release, news release, media release, or press statement is a written or recorded communication directed at members of the news media for the purpose of announcing something claimed as having news value (based on Press release - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Basically, it is an article that is newsworthy. The goal of these articles is usually making Google News for it can drive lots of traffic, hence, lots of views for your site.

Thanks for your reply, I'm gonna do some social bookmarking tomorrow, but I'm still kinda lost how it works.

Let's say I do social book marking with facebook and twitter, does it it will just post those links on my profile page? Or it posts entirely to the entire social site such that everyone can see it?

Because I'm still kinda lost on what it does, while their help pages don't really give much clue.

In the way that you'll be doing it, the primary reason for social bookmarking is to create backlinks to whatever you're bookmarking.

You won't be getting traffic from people clicking on the link. You'll be getting traffic from the search engines that begin ranking your site higher as you build your links.

Yeah, backlinks to your articles is a good idea - but at the
same time you need to publish a lot of articles and develop
your style of writing (and... psst... html formatting) to maximize
    click-throughs from real prospects.

Early clickthroughs will often be from other marketers looking
    for ideas, not buyers.

Social bookmarking, press releases = very tedious but a necessary
evil. Software to handle automated submissions helps a lot - it's
revolutionized the way I promote online. When I started using
submitters wasn't so necessary, but now the volume of info online
has exploded and the competition for ]attention as well.

I sell several automated software programs that give amazing
value for the investment in my sig-line site.

    Hi Jay,

My advice would be to write articles, each targeting a different keyword, and then submit them to not only ezine articles but also articles dashboard, goarticles, articlesbase, buzzle and associated content.

Then wait a week or so and see which articles from which sites are ranking the best. You can use SEO Elite to track all your articles easily. Then backlink the best ranking articles using Angela and Pauls backlinks (either yourself or outsource it).

Rinse and repeat for other niches. Making sure to continually track your article rankings in case they slip and you need to add more.

Write articles in a variety of niches and once you are earning a stable income. Outsource the articles themselves.

    Keys to remember:

    1. Choose keywords that are easy to rank for
    2. Choose niches where money is being spent
    3. Use your targeted keyword in your title and in your article.
    4. Use related keywords in your article also.
    5. Have a compelling call to action in your resource box (i.e. a reason to click on your website link).
    6. Track which websites rank best, the best titles, the best resource box etc
    7. Make sure that the website where you are sending people converts (test different headlines etc)

There you go. If you write enough articles you could earn a good income
