Non-profit/charity Internet Marketing

Hey everyone. I'm still new to marketing, but I have a basic grasp of how things work, etc.

I do have a question about Internet marketing for non-profits/charities though. What are a few surefire methods of marketing these type of causes?

I don't think there is any surefire method. What are you trying to accomplish? Do you have a product? Are you trying to get the charities as clients?

This is a very noble undertaking on your end. Yes, that is true. I also find it unique, if it's numbered. I like the fact that you also somehow make awareness on this.

Thanks. I do have a couple of questions too while we're on the topic.

        1. So the charity organization has their own website promoting this. If I am to market the sales of their cancer awareness T-shirts, would the best way be to market their website directly?

        2. A few people have advised me on creating a landing page instead so I can keep track of sales resulting directly from my marketing. What exactly is a landing page, and what would make it different from the charity organization's website?

A landing page is a seperate webpage that you would host that would link to their site. You would have a sales page and be able to track sales the sales that came from your marketing efforts.

To answer the question, would the best way to market be to market their website directly? It depends on your intentions. If you don't care if they know where the sales are being generated from, then send the traffic directly to the site.

If you would like to be able to tell if your marketing efforts are effective, have them put up a seperate page for you, or put up your own sales page.

            Basically, a redirection URL?

No, I maybe incorrect on this, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but a landing page would be your own webpage that you would host and build that would have a link on it to their page.

Whats the incentive for them to buy them from you, or sell them from you? Do they get a percent of the profit?

I'm sorry, my wording may be a bit unclear.

Basically, I am promoting a charity organization for cancer awareness.

Its good to know that you have some know how about that field. I cannot pick the point of your question? Are you want to promote a charity site?

It's more to promote awareness than the site.

Aha, sorry, I mis-understood. I'm probably not the best person to advise in that area, but I know there are some pretty smart people in here that can probably give you some good tips.

I do know that I have received a pretty decent response from youtube. If you can think about how to do something unique to get views, that might be an idea.

We all like people that are trying to make a difference. Also, try and show everyone that they are not just buying a shirt, that they are making a difference.

    Do you have a site?

I deal with local schools to help them raise money for their causes, and the kids sell the products. (usually to family, etc.)

Tell you what, shoot me a pm and I'll be your 1st sale.

Tell a story about the people you want to help.

Show your supporters/donors how they can help.

Tie that in to your t-shirt sales - and they'll automatically buy.

    All success
