Don't underestimate the power of a referral!

Good things happen when you make someone happy with what you do. 1 referral can mean big things for you.

I saw this man's commercial the other day. It was your typical local commercial for a product I have never seen before. I knew it wasn't going to sell thousands but it could sell to a select few.

I contacted the business owner who creates the physical product here in Nashville. I called this guy up and told him that I would be interested in being an affiliate for his product. There is 0 online presence for this product of course. It's obscure as hell. The product has a very high price tag and I knew that if I could sell 1 a month that would be an extra couple k in my bank account.

We set up a nice contract where I get 20% of every sale. I probably could of gotten that % a little higher, but this isn't really a main focus of mine and I'm outsourcing all the marketing anyways.

After about a week of marketing, my site I set up has gotten a sale. Booyah, I was excited. I thought it would at least take a month, but it's almost season for this product so the market is hungry right now.

Anyways, this one sale within the week made the business owner an extra $8,000 that he didn't have to work for. That made him a very very happy man. So happy, he told all his little local business owner friends. Since the sale, I have been contacted by a handful of local business owners to set up the same type of deal we have.

1 referral has brought me potentially thousands of dollars worth of business. I regretfully have had to turn down most of these offers right now because I am involved in way to many projects as it is, but it just shows you the potential of what 1 person can do for your business.

So how do you get a referral? DO YOUR BEST WORK! Don't slack on any of your projects. You never know when the guy you make happy has a few millionaire buddies looking for your services.

Love it - this topic is right up my alley!

Also - appreciation works like gang busters too. People love to be "appreciated"

Great share - and good luck - AND - what a great little lesson here folks. there are a bazillion - yes i mean it literally - offline biz's dying for something like what our illustrious and enterprising OP did. He created a true zero cost - win win opportunity for the business owner. He has NO sales expense until he makes a sale - with this arrangements. He has only upside potential.

We all go looking to Clickbank for the latest Acne Cure Report or high gravity eBook. This here is the REAL out of the box Niche Creation and sheer domination tactic!

    Many kudos sir!

Absolutely 100% agree with this post. I have found that they more I do for others with nothing expected in return, they more that actually comes back to me. I look at it as I genuinely want to help someone else and see them succeed. By going with this mindset I have developed more and better friendships than I every thought imagined. Thanks for posting this.

Wait to go Travis...That's the whole idea behind REVIEWS in the WSO's. It really helps to have a cx testimonial or in this case an affiliate manager testimonial. Other people telling you how great your service is really helps establish you as an authority in the market. Again I say...wait to go !

I very strongly believe in the underlying message that this post carries.

Whenever you engage yourself in a task, do your very best at it. Give it all you have and only work from the objective of trying to genuinely help your consumer/subscriber, and you will be rewarded in one way or the other.

Referrals are very powerful indeed, and only those who are true to their work can merit them.

That is awesome. Good things seem to mushroom when you help someone out and they tell their friends about it. Congratulations on your success. It is good to read about people who think outside the box

      Hey Travis
Congrats on setting up a bold deal like that. Its outside of the box thinking like this that makes the good marketers stand out from the rest. I've pretty much been doing similar deals out here as well

As for referrals, my entire business is built off of that! With the exception of the first client, all my subsequent clients - so far over 20 - have come from referrals.

One thing i highly recommend is offering current clients a referal fee or some other such bonus. Its like recruiting an army of affiliates and your business practically runs itself.

Yea man. The referral bonus is pretty much what Frank Kern's little free give away is all about in his last promotion for list control. It works.

I think this is one of the most important business ideas that gets lost too often in the internet marketing niche. Instead of building a solid business, so many people are just trying to make a quick buck online that they don't care about user experience.

However, when you do actually care about your customers and sincerely work to help them out, they will see you in a much different light than the guy pitching products all day long.

Just because we can't see our customers or interact with them face to face doesn't mean we should treat them any different than an offline business that can.

  • There was a book that tells the same story about generosity. When you give your resources like time, money or services without expecting in return, you will receive more. He said it was the law of nature and recommend this to people who wants to succeed.

Tyson is right, if you're sincere in helping customers you actually are building trust and they would surely come back for more. And definitely recommend their friend.....we call it referrals
