I am creating two sales page vidoes

am I allowed to use viddler private videos to do this, youtube private is not an option because you have to have whoevers email address you want to view the video.

But with viddler you can just give the link to the page the site is embeded on,

so my question is does viddler allow this, because I checked their terms of service and it says
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Free use limited to Non-Commercial use.
If the primary purpose of your video is to promote a product, service, event, or website for a business, you must have a valid Viddler Business Services Contract to upload your video. (sign up at Viddler Business Services ). You cannot present commercial videos on Viddler without a Viddler Business Contract.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess I could use youtube as a last resort and just make the videos public

It states it right there that you can't use viddler in that way unless you sign up for their business services.

For your sales page it looks better if you use your own hosting for your video.

You could always host the videos on your own site, as well.

Any decent hosting plan will have enough bandwidth to handle the video load until you've made enough money to move the videos over to Amazon S3.

Put them on your own site...

How would I go about hosting it on my own site in a low to no budget situation?

Do you have a hosting Plan?

They cost about $7 a month at a few places and will handle the amount of bandwith you need to start off with.

Here's the deal...most folks when they start out think that they will get massive amounts of traffic if they just "Do It". But that is rarely the case.

You actually have to spend the time and energy, and sometimes money, to get enough traffic to burden your bandwidth limitations. So when you are just starting out, a basic hosting plan may be more than sufficient.

If you can't swing the $7 a month, hosting is going to be the least of your problems...

yes I have a hosting plan, but I am very un technical, and quite the bit of a dunce.

I have a baby hostgator plan.. I have very limited design skills...

If there is a free tutorial or a video on how to host my own video that would be awesome.

I am working with a very small budget about $125 dollars as of right now....

but I do have hosting, and camtasia,

If you have hosting and Camtasia, you are golden.

          Try this...

Do a test video in Camtasia, it doesn't matter what's on the video, and produce it as a MPEG4 using 640X480 (WEB) as the size. The size doesn't matter, I'm just referring to that size so you'll have one less question to ask yourself.

When you produce the video, Camtasia will create a folder with 6 or 7 files in it. Load those files as individual files onto your webserver. Just don't load the .xml file. You don't need it on the web.

Make a new directory on your website (www.mywebsite.com/test/, as an example), and load the video files to that directory.

The HTML page that Camtasia produced for you will have all the information needed to make the video play online. Let's say you name the html page "videotest.html".

Now, after you've loaded the files on your server, go to (www.mywebsite.com/test/videotest.html) and see if the video plays.

If it does, you just took a giant leap forward.

Once you've accomplished that step loading the video onto a webpage is simply a matter of copying and pasting code.

Now, see if you can follow the above and upload a video to your site.

Alright I got it, I have took my first big step..

Now how do I embed that video onto a sales page?

Look near the top of the HTML page Camtasia generated for you (open in NotePad or equiv) and look for the line:

              <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>

Add that line between your <head> and </head> tags. Do it right before the closing tag if you want (</head>).

Then look down the page for this line of code. It's about 2/3rds down the page:

"<!-- Users looking for simple object / embed tags can copy and paste the needed tags below."

Now, starting with the <div id="media"> line, copy all the lines through the closing </div> tag and paste those into your webpage code where you want the video to go. (You will need to understand a little HTML or WordPress voodoo to get this done.)

              <div id="media">
              <object id="csSWF" ..."></embed>
              </object>
              </div>

The code you added to your 'head' calls for a video to be displayed on the webpage, and the code you copy/pasted that has all the params tells the browser/server what video to display.

See if you can do this using a simple page at first, then try it on a more complicated page if the code is a bit over your head.

Once you have done this a few times it gets really easy...

What you quoted could not have been clearer. Viddler only allows you to place promotional videos if you have a Business Services Contract, which will obviously cost you money. I also recommend placing videos on your own site. Once you have some cash you can then invest it in Viddler or even Amazon. And, as you said, your last resort is YouTube if you want to keep the email and contact information private. What I do not understand is, why would you want to use a private service? If what you are trying to do is SELL a product then don't you want to reach as many people as possible? OR is your product's niche too narrow? I am a little confused I must say. Does anyone else have the same interrogations??? Or am I just over analyzing it...

    gwriter,

You say you have Camtasia. Techsmith, the makers of that softwar have a video hosting site called Screencast dot com. You can even upload directly to it from inside Camtasia.

Commercial videos are allowed and they have an unlimited-time free trial that gives you about 2 Gigs of storage and 2 Gigs a month of bandwidth. It is enough space and enough bandwidth to test a couple videos.

A 1.5 minute mp4 video is about 2megs - so you can run one that size about a 1,000 time a month without cost. After that you can subscribe for about $10/mo for 500 Gigabytes. The subscription version costs a little more than does Amazon S3, but Screencast makes it idiot-proof, including the player.

So, for a cost of $zero you could test your two video sales pages, and start making money before buying the larger monthly service.

Yes, upload the file to the directory you just created making sure all the Camtasia files (except the XML file) are in the same directory. In other words, the html page, the video, the JS scripts and controllers are all in the same directory for this exercise.

You should be able to see your video

why not host the video on your server? try Jw player, its cool! Its seriously not worth paying $100's to viddler to just host that! Or you can use Amazon S3 to host your videos, and play it using the JW player that you can get it here for free, LongTail Video | Home of the JW Player

That's how those launch videos get hosted!

    my 99 cents LOL
