I haven't heard of anything like this personally beyond venture capital, which is probably your best bet for any type of advance.

  • One thing:

Generally speaking they only get an advance if they are a 'proven' commodity. If you are a "proven" marketer, yes, you can get the 'equivalent' of an advance in the form of people lining up to pay to promote to your list, do JV's with you, etc, etc.

Good luck with your project, but getting any kind of advance won't happen.

With book publishers and recording studios they have a manner of collateral to back advances with. That being having artists and musicians under contract so that they cannot go elsewhere with future products.

For a binding contract, (which is what is needed in an advance) each party must contribute something to the arrangement. Without a proven track record, I can't envision anyone investing money in such a project. --Mike

You never know if you have a great product. It's not you who decides, it's your customers that decide.

Anyway, I've never heard of anything like that in the IM industry. Maybe it exists but I don't know.
