Backlinks as Bonus. Good or Bad Idea?

Hi all,

I was wondering if I offer backlinks as a bonus so that people will buy the product that I'm affiliated with through my affiliate link, is that ok? Is there any downside to this? Please share. Thanks

Lydia

The best bonuses are highly relevant to the product they're complementing. Unless link building is relevant to the product, I wouldn't do it.

Also, what if the person refunds? You'd still be obligated to deliver unless you specified that you'd start building links after the refund period was over. But if that was the case, nobody would sign-up under you because they'd want their links done now (or soon).

Yup that's what I thought. But I also thought that since I'm offering it for free, people will get the product from me even though they have to wait till after the refund period is over.

It's a bit of a headache because I do want to give great bonuses and I think this will be a great bonus. But the amount of work and money that goes into building backlinks just make me afraid to offer this as a bonus.

It's not a recommended idea unless you have some sort of a team to build the backlinks.

Manually building backlinks for a lot of people can and will be time consuming.

You can always offer it on a test basis and see how it turns out. Then take it out and try something else if it doesn't work out.

That's why I thought there must be something wrong. If it's such a great bonus to give out why don't other affiliates do the same? If there's so much negatives to giving backlinks out as a bonus, then I guess it's back to the drawing board. Thanks everyone for giving me your valuable feedback.

That's absolutely right. Manually building links WILL take up so much of your time that it might actually distract you from your main goals.

Instead, and choose this path only if you're dead-bent on giving out back links, try to obtain distribution rights for one of the link packets (angela/paul type) from the respective seller, and give those out as bonuses.

Could work but you have to consider how many you are going to sale you could get swamped.
Best method of adding a bonus is to find a great product with a hole something missing and then filling that hole with your bonus.
For example if you are promoting a great piece of software that functions perfectly but lacks a users manual which tells the beginner how to best utilize the results then you write the manual.
This essential missing piece manual then becomes the bonus it's all about finding ways to beat the competition and in many affiliate niches this is becoming increasingly difficult.
