How many articles will google show on 1 page from same directory ?

Hi guys,
Just a quick one i`ve found a keyword i`d like to write a article with but the only thing is there is 2 other articles from ezine which is the directory i will be using anyway there is 2 other articles on page one i belive that google will only show 2 articles from the same directory on any page is this correct ? And if so should i forget about this keyword or still go for it and backlink the article as i`m guessing this would knock one of the other articles off so log as the publisher hadn`t backlinked it (which he hasn`t)

Am i correct or not ??

    To opposite so far
    I say go for it knock that sucker out but then rewrite your article for another directory and get some backlinks for that as well.

    Do this a few times and you'll know and be well on the way to become an authority on the subject, which will pay dividends down the road - perhaps a wso

      Not only will only 2 articles from the same directory show on page 1 of Google for any particular search phrase, only 2 articles from the same directory will show ANYWHERE in the standard listings of Google for any particular phrase. The exception being that if you drill far enough down through the pages until you get to the "we have omitted results similar to the ones shown, would you like to see them anyway? (or whatever it says)--they you may find more articles from the same directory.

        Damm, i read the first reply and it was the same as i was thinking so i have almost finished the article just took me nearly 2 hours and i`m just looking at the other replys now and maybe should of waited but i`m going to go a head and see if i can infact know it off and how easy it was or not ! but thanks guys anyway !!
