Introduction and Question

Hi all,

I'm brand new to internet marketing and this is my first post. I have a question for anyone that has time. As I've been researching IM online, I came across something called Wealthy Affiliates. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this program and if so, would you recommend this for a total beginner? Money's tight and I'm learning what I can on my own, but if this is legit and can really help me, I'd like to try it.

Also, if anyone else has recommendations for any books and/or online resources that can help, I'd really appreciate that too.

Thank you so much for your time!

I'm sure lots of others with experience of Wealthy Affiliates will answer you (I dont know this product first-hand), but I'd also suggest you consider joining the "War Room" here at this forum.

It's only $37 for a 20 year membership, and there are DOZENS of videos, ebooks, and guides in there that would be more information than you'd ever need.

I would recommend checking out "Wordpress Goldmine". I'm a member there, and that place really has everything.

I jumped around from thing to thing until I went there. He has like 80 videos (more?) showing everything from blog/website creation using Wordpress (which is free) to creating traffic, article marketing, video marketing, ebook creation, etc....

It's quite a lot and will teach you pretty much everything you need to know.

      That's my opinion!

Get war room membership for $37 one time.

Most money making genuine step by step strategies are free in there and you can pick one out of many. No need to purchase any programs outside of the war room as you have mentioned money is tight.

All the Best and Welcome to the war room.

p.s. for checking out reviews for products there is a thread dedicated to that. you might find what you are looking for there and instead of started a new thread for checking wealthy affiliate you are better off searching the forum.

    Hi Jenny,

    Welcome to the Warrior Forum.

Sorry I can't comment on Wealthy Affiliates as I am not a member of that program or any get rich quick program for that matter.

If you go to Google and search for 'wealthy affiliate' or 'wealthy affiliate scam' or 'wealthy affiliate review' you'll get a lot of info.

Personally I would recommend not spending any money on 'systems' that promise you pie in the sky... instant success or easy money for little work.

First you should figure out exactly what it is that you want to do on the Internet as a business... and then ask around at places like the Warrior Forum for any help you need on figuring out how to accomplish what it is that you want to do.

There's a million and one ways to make money online, same as offline, but if you just chase money chances are you'll never catch it.

    Best of Luck,
    Jesse

If you haven't learned HTML yet... I recommend this great free tutorial written by Dave Raggett, the guy who invented HTML.

    Dave Raggett's Introduction to HTML

I see a lot of people wanting to make money online who haven't bothered to learn basic HTML.

Personally, I think learning HTML is one of the first steps anyone should take who wants to have a website and dosen't have the cash to hire someone to build it for them.

Basic HTML is so easy that a 12 year old could learn it in a weekend... and a smart adult could learn most of it in about 1 hour. It is so simple that most of it is intuitive... like <p> is for paragraph and <b> is for bold text etc.

Besides, it'll make you feel good to know you can build your own website.

    Best Wishes,
    Jesse

    Hi Jenny,
I agree with these suggestions. I was a member of Wealthy Affiliate for a few months, but actually found that although there is a wealth of information on the site and a great forum, I needed more step by step. I actually stopped my subscription and put my money into an autoresponder and hosting. There are really a lot of free tutorials that can get you started. You may want to spend some time doing some research to find out which direction you want to go in. There are so many ways of internet marketing that you just can't do them all at once.

I tend to sign up for the free tutorials and ebooks. That lets me test drive the author and the information. If something has value, I might then purchase the course or book.

Welcome to the IM world and good luck to you.

I have been a member of WA for sometime now...mostly because I am making affiliate sales from it.

It is excellent value for money with tons of information....however I don't think it is entirely suitable for someone brand new to internet marketing.

If you've been around and gotten your feet wet then I would say go for it but I don't think it has enough detailed step-by-step instructions for an absolute newbie.

I would hang around this forum a bit and get some ideas here to find out exactly what method appeals to you before you start paying for any sort of course.

Thank you all so much for your replies! This is extremely helpful.

Based on the recommendations, I'll definitely sign up for the War Room. I didn't realize this feature offered so many benefits.

JRCarson, thank you for the Wordpress Goldmine tip. I have a Wordpress site that I'm updating and I could really use this resource.

Maddi, thank you for the welcome. :-) I didn't realize there was a thread pertaining to product reviews so I'll find that and check it out.

Jesse, thanks for the tips. I had seen those Wealthy Affiliate page results on Google, but I couldn't find actual negative reviews about the program. That's why I thought I'd ask here. For now, I am focusing on affiliate marketing, although I have an idea for an ebook and want to see how that would turn out. I'm also looking forward to learning the other facets of Internet marketing once I discover what these are.

And yes, I've got my HTML down. :-) I also write articles for the Web so the combination of these two skills made me want to give Internet marketing a real try.

gtal and PaulaC, thank you for commenting on WA. It sounds like something I might decide to check into later. Glad to know that it has good information and resources.

I'll definitely be popping my head into the forums more often. :-) Thanks again for all the help!
