Wordpress Help-The Squeeeeze!

Hi hi everyone...

No fancy trix to my posts lately-Just a girl needing a bit of help from the pros.

I have a nice chunk of content in the jewelry blog finally, I'm up to 20 RSS subscribers (YAY!) and traffic has died down a bit, but I don't want to drum it up again until I have my email squeeze set up. Wasted visitors, etc.

So, I put together the freebies I'll offer to get subscribers. I signed up for GetResponse. I see that they have a popup window or html page option for getting email addys. My question is, do I have to make a new page for this in Wordpress? I'm lost on the mechanics of how to go about setting this up so it's seamless and a part of the blog site.

If anyone has mad skillz for Wordpress and could walk me through it gently, I'd be forever grateful and owe you a favor to boot. I'm creative; I have all kinds of abilities to offer.

Thanks much fellow Warriors!

If you are comfortable modifying your theme templates you can paste the code that GetResponse supplies you into the sidebar of your wordpress theme. You can do this either directly in wordpress (if you set your theme files to writable) or you can download the sidebar.php file to your computer and edit it there.

Is your theme widgetized? I'm not familiar with GetResponse, but you can just paste Aweber code into a text widget and you're done (assuming your sidebars are wide enough - if not, the code just needs a bit of editing). I'd have thought GetResponse worked in much the same way.

Yes, it's widgtized for sure. I made sure when I chose a theme, that I got one that was fully SEO, widgets, AdSense, bells and whistles LOADED. I at least did that much right.

I am comfortable fiddling with my CSS sheets, that's how I've built up my sidebars for the most part. I'm lucky enough to know some HTML and I have my programmer that works with me on my regular jewelry site to help me w/ what I can't do on my own.

GR allows you to either use an HTML page or a popup window to capture subscribers. I was not quite following whether I had to "attach" them to the blog by adding another page with coding in it on Wordpress or what not.

Admittedly, I am a "figure it out right outta' the box w/o reading directions until I have to" kinda' girl. You men should all relate.

So, before I beg for any more assistance, I should go watch the tutorials they provide and see what I need to do.

      Thanks ya'll.

Yes, you can put the getresponse code in a wordpress text widget.
But what you might want to do after is format it, like enclose it on a box or something since the autoresponder code is only the form itself (text fields and submit button).

I have used the plugin for a while. It's just so easy and, in my mind, well worth the money.
