My Success Story and some tips for newbies

Hi fellow warriors,

I just want to share a little success story of mine and give a little back to the forum that essentially led me to where I am now.

Firstly, I'd like to sincerely thank the entire community here at Warrior forum because 99% of the people here are very helpful and generous. If anyone reading this is completely new to warrior forum let me tell you that you have come to the right place

Quite literally, if it weren't for this forum I wouldn't be where I am today. All it took was a co-worker of my previous job to point me to this forum because I told him I wanted to make it big online, but had no reliable resources to do so. I virtually knew nothing about internet marketing. Fast forward to today, I have quit my job and doing internet marketing full time! No more serving indian food at minimum wage!!

I had to make this post because for the most part I was lurking the forum soaking in as much info as I could. After months of learning the ropes.. I still have tons to learn! But I know just enough to make my ends meet solely from internet marketing. This is an important lesson for all you newbies out there!!

You're probably sick and tired of hearing "Take Action!" but that is what it all boils down to. It's impossible to learn everything in internet marketing because everything changes so rapidly in this jungle.

So, to actually contribute to this wonderful community I decided to put together some tips that would hopefully benefit the complete newbies that are ready to dive into IM.

Firstly, if you'd like to have any success online, you must be willing to spend time AND money. Now, I don't mean you have to dish out thousands or even hundreds of dollars at the get-go. But having a few dollars in your budget for IM I would say is critical. I say this because spending money on quality IM products eliminates any trial and error that you would have to go through if you did it on your own. You can easily find yourself burnt out because you can't get anything substantial done without the help of specific information.

Secondly, FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS! This is one mistake I made when I started last August. However, I would have to say I don't really regret making this mistake AT FIRST. Since I was completely new to IM I wanted to find out what was the perfect mehtod for me to make a consistent income online. I tried all sorts of things, from promoting clickbank products, adsense blog sites, CPA and ghostwriting.

However, the more I knew the less focused I became in actually bringing in the money. So for you complete newbies, research the various methods there are to make bank and choose the one that is most suited to you and your personality. AND STICK WITH IT. Don't give up on it until you've reached your goals.

For me, I somewhat enjoyed writing so I decided to write articles for others right here on Warrior forum because I got instant cash (unlike clickbank, CPA and others which take weeks before you see a check) This is where I got my first taste of success. It was actually because of this that I was able to quit my job after a few of weeks.

So, to save you newbies from getting too distracted, I would urge you to find a method(may it be writing articles, graphics design, programming) that you think you would be good at and also enjoy. Don't get caught up in all the latest , newest methods to make money. Why? Because new methods come out EVERY DAY. That is where I went wrong. I have a pile of WSOs on my harddrive that I honestly haven't even tried out yet. Just remember, even though there are always new methods coming out, the fundamentals of IM will remain the same.

Because of my interest in writing articles, I have now branched off from writing for other people, to writing for MYSELF. I now have a couple of my own products on Clickbank that are ready to bring in sales. And don't ever think to yourself that you can't do what I'm doing. When I first started out, I couldn't see myself creating my own products because it seemed too complicated. But the truth is that it is dead simple!

However, I'm glad I first started off writing for other people, because then I knew what people expected and what I should do for my own products. Take things step by step.

Wow. I just realized how long this post is getting! I want to share more but I'll pause for now and let it soak in for any newbies that may be reading this. If people actually enjoyed reading this, I'll make another post in this thread for some more tips that I'd like to share. So let me know what you guys think

To everyone's success,
Ryan R. Tang

Thanks Nick, I hope to inspire as much people as I can. It was the little success stories on Warrior forum that gave me the push I needed during times of frustration and doubt.

Thanks for posting this. There are many newbies who enter Internet marketing thinking it's a walk in the park. But they don't realize that this is a real business like any other business. So it's very important to be focused and do what you need to do, instead of listening to a thousand different people.

Great post for anybody wanting to start online. I too had information overload when I started and was totally distracted and I jumped from one to another always in the hope of making some money.

By reading your post today, it made be think back to where I was myself sometime back. I do appreciate your post please do share more of your experience. It helps also an experienced marketer to think back to where he was and who knows there may be new techniques we could learn from you. Ryan - two golden nuggets in what you shared (thanks by the way!)

      1. Match your strength/passion with a desire in the marketplace. In your case, you matched your interest/passion for writing with a desire others had in the IM space to have written content. While this sounds straightforward, 99% of people are breaking this simple rule. They are either a) trying to fill a desire by doing something they don't do well or do not enjoy or b) they know what they do well, but have not done a good job at matching what they do well with a market desire. Get both of these right and you will make money.

      2. I was so happy to see the end of your post where you said you evolved from writing for others to branch into your own infoproducts. I'm not sure you know how big a move this really is. Not only do you move from work-for-hire or work for license (in the case of PLR content creation), when you develop your own products you work once and make passive income for months and potentially years to come. Second, you can now leverage other marketers and thought leaders in your space by signing them on as affiliates and third, you open the door to many additional income benefits of having your own info products such as branding, list building potential, additional leverage for affiliate offers and licensing opportunties.

Sky is the limit my friend...have a sweet ride!

      Jeff

Yep, and I hope the newbies reading this will follow suit!

    @ Samantha
Agreed. Although IM may not be a walk in the park, it can be quite simple to be successful as long as you know exactly where you want to go and stay focused in getting there.Take things step by step.

    @ Jeff
Well said! It's the simple stuff that so many people get wrong at the get-go. As for having your own info products, I'm just getting into it and have just scratched the surface of its huge potential. It's truly taking your business to the next level, and I hope people are taking notes!

    @everyone else
Thanks so much for your feedback, and I am really glad that I had an impact on you. I shall post some more tips for you guys soon!

so essentially what you are saying is IM is really not that great , just offer a service. Which makes sense, because , services do pay instantly.

That's what on the surface, but dig a little deeper....

His writing services were the foundation. I firmly believe that ability to write is the single most important trait to have in order to be successful online.

He spent time learning and absorbing as much as he could, then surveyed everything and decided where he wanted to place his focus. (A very smart place, by the way...)

With time and work came income. With income came confidence. With confidence came the ability to create his own products for sale.

      That's the key item.

With his own products, and his ability to write, the sky is the limit. It's not complicated. Dedicated, consistent, focused daily effort will now determine his ultimate income level.

      And it all came from:

      1. Reading and learning
      2. Choosing an area of focus
      3. Taking action to achieve a result
      4. Leveraging that result toward passive income

IM is the most amazing opportunity in human history. The only problem is all the humans who make it so darn complicated.

Not saying that at all actually. I'd actually consider offering services as part of IM, because after all you do have to market and sell your services.

IMO, offering services is a great starting point for newbies because it is the most straightforward way of making money instantly. Do a specific task and you get paid instantly. It's a great feeling to have money come in you paypal account for the first time, and this is one of the fastest ways of doing so

You can get paid instantly in other parts of IM for sure, but it just takes more knowledge and experience.

Nice. I too feel in the same boat. I enjoy writing and have started to write for others as well as put together my first PLR product (based on my writing). It's always great to hear success stories like this because it provides newer folks like me the impetus to keep going!
