Default Dealing with Copy Right Infringement

A short time ago I received an email from a website owner informing me of an author who had copied material from their site and used this for an article that was on my article site. They included links from their website and a link to the posted article.

I took a look at each and found that, yes indeed copied word for word. I removed the author and all of his articles. I contacted the author and told them they had been removed along with all of their articles for the copy right infringement. Unfortunately for the author this was 700+ articles.

The author pleaded with me to only remove the articles mentioned and stated this was submitted by mistake and all other material was 100% authentic.

My questions is: Would any of you done anything different in this situation?

Thanks for your time.

Default Re: Dealing with Copy Right Infringement

It is really hard to say. I own copyrights from the libaray of Congress. Those last about 26 years.
You also must remember that competition online is about people attacking and flamming each other so that thier own personal websites grow while they destroy the other guy.
In other words, how do you really know if the other guy wrote those articles also?
I feel many times what is sold online is copied by someone else and re-sold, or re-posted.
But I found in my own life to have a great website a person needs to be 100% original. That way you have something more to offer than a re-print of someone else's work. It draws more people being original and fresh.
