Could someone help me with a specific linking question

INTERNET MARKETING

Hi,

I am almost too embarrassed to ask but I don't know if it is ok to do the following:

article links to my site and then my site links back to the article

similarly if I have two sites can I link them both ways?

Is this positive for my sites or would google not like that.

I tried to search online for this answer but I am not finding anything helpful. I hope one of you warriors could help me solve this issue.

I am doing this in hope to increase the ranking of my sites?????

You don't want to link both ways. You just want to link from the article to your site, that's all.

Well, it won't really hurt you in the real sense. It just means that Google will not give the reciprocal links as much value as one way links.

Your outgoing links aren't going to do much for you unless they go to a high-ranking site that offers complementary info. For instance, if you have a site on weight loss, you can refer your visitors to the National Institute of Health web site, which provides expert advice related to the issues surrounding excess weight and the benefits of weight loss. It gives your site added value, even though it is an outgoing link. If they link back to you, that would be one of the few reciprocal links that Google would rate highly.
