I have a website that I can't get to index in Google. It won't index even for it's own domain name most of the time. At times, it indexes in the 140s and then disappears.

It indexes in Yahoo fine most of the time, although it has disappeared from Yahoo before.

I'm pretty sure it's due to the w's missing at the beginning of the domain. But I'm not real sure. We've called the hosting and domain companies and hopefully fixed the problem.

I'd appreciate any insight!

How long has your site been up? It looks like you are using WordPress right? I would say that it is just a matter of time before you move up. I guarantee the search engines know you are there, you just have to be patient and keep building up those links. I hope you business does well.

    I see you are indexed:

    site:http://www.pcsdenver.com - Google Search

It looks like you could use some more backlinks as most of the 115 bl come from local.yahoo and carpetcleaninglongislandny dot com

I don't see any other issues with your meta or robots file.

Are you using Google Webmaster's Tools?

If not it would be worth setting it up and adding your site to it. If there are any problems from Google's perspective they'll be reported there, plus there's lots of advice on how to make your site Google-friendly.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

    Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback.

It's NOT like I'm trying to rank it for a competitive keyword. In fact, the site has more backlinks than even the sites in the top 3 of Google for it's ideal keyword. It just won't rank.

Some issues lead me to believe it's something to do with the domain name.

It's been up for about 5 months. It goes in and out of ranking even for it's own domain. And comes in 140s and then goes out of the index completely for it's keyword phrase.

    That's BS. I am sure

What might be a www. related problem is this: if you use BOTH variants and did NOT tell Google which one is preferred... then G. and other search engines as well see those variants as TWO [2] different sites!

There is no real need to use www - but pick one variant and stick to it. Are the backlinks all made with www or without? If both... that's a problem. It doesn't really matter which one you are going to use, just make sure everywhere it is the same one.

Agreed, I do not think the www has anything to do with it, unless of course as you say the link is being spread in two different ways, with and without the w's. It creates confusion.

As for Hitmanad, you may want to take a look at the internal SEO of your page. Often enough if either, the off-page or the on-page SEO has some issues it might affect your results. Have an SEO professional analyze your site, your meta tags, and so on. IF as you say you are only building quality backlinks and doing so carefully and consciously you should be seeing better results.

After you have verified that you have done just about everything being recommended here, then you have to sit and wait. Unfortunately there is not SET time as to when a page gets indexed, let alone ranked. And it varies from site to site, niche to niche, and keyword to keyword.

    Hi Hitmanad,

Are you continuously building targeted backlinks with your keywords on the anchor text for those five months? If you did, do you think you have built it too fast?

Yes, I've been building links to the site. Only quality links though and nothing spammy. How many links it "too many" in a month?

I am not sure how many is too many but that is not your problem. I ran your site though spyglass and after I remove all the link missing and no follow sites you only have 53 backlinks showing from 9 different ip addresses. It is more a matter of not enough than too many. Seriously after five months even at 10 a day you should have at least 1000 or more indexed by now from 100's of different ip's.

You only have 23 from domains with pr and 8 from pages with pr. Honestly you need a serious re-thinking of your back link strategy if that is all you have to show for five months work.

I did check without the www as well and only found four without and they were all nofollow anyway.

        Richard
