There's been plenty of discussion about the pros and cons of using squeeze pages, but the consensus seems to be that squeeze pages work.

I'd like to get some opinions on the best way to implement.

Say, for example you have a Wordpress Blog set up with a nice home page showing the latests posts and some inner pages. When you do your marketing to drive traffic, would you create a separate squeeze page and drive traffic there, or would it be better to add a pop-up to the home page, or some other method for SQEEEEEZING your viewers to an Opt-In box?

I've tried adding an Aweber form to one of my blogs, but since it was optional and not mandatory, nor attached to any real offer, it's very rarely filled out.

What's the best way to incorporate squeeze page technology into a WP blog?

Seen any good Squeeze page or Pop-up plugins lately?

Thanks,
Heidi

You'll get the most subscribers from an exit popup on a wordpress blog (like action popup is good)

You'll get more subscribers by sending them directly to a page dedicated to getting a (name) and email

I'd only send traffic to a blog if it's social media traffic or via blog comments, otherwise go for the squeeze page...

FYI don't send directly to a sales page unless it's your own product and it converts into more sales overall then sending them to a squeeze page first

Currently, its getting me a 36% opt in rate.

I have the same set-up on some of my stuff. Main site is a WP blog, with various squeeze pages.

I have yet to put in an exit pop-up only because I drive ALL of my traffic to my squeeze pages first, then they get access to the blog.

However, I have put an opt-in on my blog too, but most people have already subscribed who go there.

Not sure if it helps, but I would drive everyone to a squeeze page with a neat freebie, monetize the thank you and download page, then let them know about the blog through your autorepsonder and in the free report you give away.

You should never force people into a list, but alternative always offer them free content -a guide, discounts, insider infomation to join your newsletter, and you mention a few different ways yourself you could catch people... all of these methods will work,, you can even do a few..

The way I used to run blogs was to have like 5-10 master posts - going after solid keywords which were high traffic, and hopefully keywords which would lead to sales- buyer keywords. I would sticky these posts on my homepage (perhaps only some of them - definitely the real main main ones ) and also put them in the sidebar as "popular posts" or something, just so they get exposure and link love from the whole of the site. Then any normal blog posts I made would link back to these master posts - i.e. "for more info about subliminals see my main review of... here" .... this is so everything feeds into your best content.

On top of this I would also have a popup with a signup on exit, or appearing after a certain time limit - play around and see what works for you, and often a signup form in the sidebar too - all offering free gifts / ebooks / reports exclusive info...
