How long before a linkbuilding campaign shows results?

I am launching several websites that currently have no backlinks and no traffic. I am planning on hiring someone to do link building (creating mini-nets, link wheels, etc) for them.

I have never before done a deliberate campaign of link building and I wanted to know how long it will be before I actually see traffic coming into my websites.

The person I hire will probably cost me around $300 a month and I don't want to keep paying if the linkbuidling isn't working. At first I thought I would give it one month to see results, but I thought that might be too little time.

What do you think?

My experience has been this ENTIRELY depends on how well optimized your pages are for the keywords you are targeting, the "quality" of the content on your site (crap content doesn't rank well), the age of your domain, how many competing sites there are (and how many of these are known authority sites). Assuming everything is in line... if you a getting a good number of quality links and a ton of quantity links - you should see positive results in 6-8 weeks.

It varies on soooo many factors, party in what is actually done and how good you (they) are at building links and getting sites ranked effectively, but mostly on the competitiveness of the niche and competition for your core keywords and the keywords you pursue.. not to mention on page seo, age of the domain, possible natural PR, and a bit of randomness / good luck

I thikn you want a very general answer though and I would say that as a VERY rough guide expecto see no real traffic within first 2-3 weeks, but to have your pages indexed and a basic backlink count (check on yahoo site explorer), then within 1-2 month you should hopefully see basic traffic, and for month 3 to get some sort of ranking and regular traffic and to increase from there...

probably 100 different people could answer this thread though and give you a different answer based on their niche / expeirence and knowledge.

I really depends on your on page seo and the strength of competition. If you're starting from nowhere and it's a longtail term, you should be able to get to page 3-8 pretty fast.

Like everyone else said, all depends on what you are trying to rank for and the competition. Also depends on how good the links are - are all they crap links or good PR 1 way links?

I have had sites ranked in as little as a couple days with some good content, highly optimized, low competition and great links.

Can someone tell me why Yahoo might index your links much faster than google?

I think yahoo and Bing are just a lot easier to rank and get indexed for... They pick up backlinks quicker and and generally respond faster thank Google. The big G has a lot more Ts to cross and Is to dot before they show you any love

Link building for your site can take anything from 2-6 months.

but there are a variety of factors to consider (onpage factors, offpage) etc

Nobody can answer your question as there are far too many factors involved. There is more to backlink building then just slapping a link here and there, as far as the link wheels I would tread careful there if I was you..

Many of the above posts are correct, there is a science to linkbuilding, and the so many factors. You also need to be patient. It just doesn't happen overnight, despite the many blackhatters that say they can get you to the first page of Google within 36 hours. It just doesn't happen that way. Read the forums, blogs etc. Do it right, and once it happens, it will be of a more permanent nature.

Again, this depends on several factors. Let's say you have a long tail, low competition/high search keyword. Link it up with high PR links, then social bookmark those links. Also set up an RSS feed and get the links through there, and finally give your actual bookmarking account tons of link juice, do further strenghten the effect it has. As long as your content isn't complete crap, you could literally be number one in google in one day, if not hours.

Of course, if your keywords have more competition, you're looking to wait longer.

from my experience around 3 months for a new domain expect to see at least 30 visits a day, a few people have mentioned at least 2 months so this seems to be consistent with my experience.

Rankings and TRAFFIC are different. Yes it's easy to rank for a phrase especially 3 words and longer however getting TRAFFIC means you are pulling in visitors for variations of this phrase (there will be plenty!) and related terms based on your content, this only happens over time as Google learns to TRUST your site.
