What do you think about OTO when signing up to autoresponder?

I've been playing around with one time offers(OTO) in a lot of my niches lately. I'm wondering what your experience with using them and your experience has seeing them have been.

I'm talking about having a OTO after you confirm for a free gift autoresponder. There is no product involved yet other then the OTO. I know all markets are different, so let's stick to the IM and related niches.

As a subscriber

Do the OTO push you away from that mailing list? Is it some what of a turn off to be "sold" to that early?

As the marketer

Do the OTO offer buyers convert higher for you later on? Do you see a higher unsubscribe rate when you offer a OTO so early?

I have only implemented them a little bit thus far, so I wanted to see what you all think.

With my OTO's, I'm seeing some upfront cash from my list, but haven't been at it long enough to see the long term turn around.

Thanks,
Travis

Overall I think it is good from a markers poimt of view. It definately icreases your profits. And as long as it is a great deal and related to your freebie iT SHouldnt be a problem for the subscribers.

OTOs have been proven to increase profits in some cases, but do test.

I have heard many marketers say they have improved results...

      Here's my two cents,

OTO are great if you want to make some money fairly easily, I think it is fair to say that they do work.

However, I hate the them and if I am presented with one it tells me that this marketer is not really offering me anything of value and is just out to make a quick buck. This is usually the point that I unsubscribe.

So it is not something I would do, it must be better to try to build a long-term relationship with someone first and have them as customers for life.

Do you have any examples of links to good OTO pages?

That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

My new project is targeting multiple marketers. One aspect is targeting the newbie marketer which I would be more inclined in offering the OTO too, because for one they will get more use out of my OTO product and two, the main focus for this product line is a different market.

The real money to be made from the product line I want is from more intermediate marketers that already know how to make a little money online. They are going to get much more use out of my products and they are the ones I really want to build a relationship with. Like you said, intermediate to advanced marketers know what you're doing when they see OTO's and promotions too. That's what I'm trying to avoid with that market.

Thanks for your reply. Time is just going to let me know I guess which way to go. I know that OTO's will bring in more cash, but at what expense in the long term. I am upping my game in the next 6 months to offer big ticket items. I need that relationship to be strong to offer a product for $997.

I've whipped out my credit card many times for a OTO after signing up for something that's free because the offer was presented in such a way that it was going to be a shorter path than what I just got for free.

The only way to know for sure for your market... test it out.

If your subscribers are desperate for solutions, your OTO will probably do well. If they're still in the info gathering stage, then you might find hitting them with your offer a few days down the road is better.
