My content stolen- I get accused of plagiarism! need help and advice please.

Hi guys,
I submitted a few of my articles that I had published previously on my blog to helium.com last week. Yesterday I received an email telling me my account was banned because of plagiarism.

So, I looked into it and found out 3,4 different people have stolen my content and submitted on their site with no link back or credit to me and not even my name. One of them actually is doing it on article directory(greendoc.net) and in just a few seconds looking I found out he published over a dozen or so of my articles under his name.

So, I contacted helium and gave them the url and dates that shows those articles were published on my blog way before on these sites. So they are looking into it. Although I don't understand why they would ban your account before proving you are guilty. Yes I understand they dont have time to do this with hundreds of people. But they can at least give you a chance to prove your not guilty before they close your account.

Any way, I have a few questions that I am sure many experienced warrior can help me with.

1- I contacted these sites and asked them to remove the content immediately or else I will take legal action. Is there anything else I can do? If they decide not to remove, how do you prove it?

2- Is there any plug-in or a tool that can stop this?

3- Is here any tool to look for other possible stolen content?

4- Please feel free to give me any other suggestion or info you have, regarding how to keep it from happening or what to do to resolve faster or what have you.

Thank you very much in advance.

    1. I would continue to scare them if I were you. Legal action would not even be worth it for some articles. I believe you can prove it by when it was submitted on your blog or possible when you first saved it.

    2. Not that I know of. It is pretty easy to copy someone's stuff unfortunately.

    3. These sites should help

    4. I would say just try your best to keep an eye on it and do exactly what you are doing as far as reporting it and making sure they are reprimanded. Plagiarism is just a part of the gig, people like that are frauds and they will be branded as much over time. Just keep pumping out good quality stuff and you will be fine. I am sorry that you had this type of trouble. Best of luck.

This is a big problem at the moment, I know of several people who have had their content stolen and a different link added.

what can you do? not a lot , you'll waste a lot of time trying to get even..just email all the people who are hosting your content and cc the hosting companies abuse dept.

If they are good they'll remove it if not then just move on

Thank you for the comment Ken. But I am not sure if I understand what you mean. Do you mean, they wont let me delete my article from their site? or...

Raygun, Thank you for the links and your sympathy.

Yeah I know legal action isn't the way. I mean its not worth a few articles, but just like you said I was trying to scare them.

And yes it is very unfortunate that its so easy to cope others content and publish under your own name, and even more unfortunate that some people actually do it.

The reason I asked about plug in is that I remember reading about a plug in long time ago that was supposed to somehow make it impossible to copy your page, which then the thief had to type each word and that takes time, and most thieves steal in the first place because they dont want to spend time writing one.

Also one of these sites (algerienetwork.com) is in another language( I thing its french or an eastern European language but not sure), but they have posted my article (the same one in my sig "61 free and ...") in its original English format. And when I tried to contact, Of course it wouldn't go through. I looked on who is and couldn't find any way to contact these people. Any suggestion?

Thank you for the suggestion. I think I will do that. I didn't know that the hosting companies could do that.

Great idea, I may do that myself from now on. thank you very much.

The sad thing is that I dont really care about it that much. I mean its internet and its huge and usually people who steal content dont get too far anyway and they cant become become your competitor. But, It bugs me that Now I get my account deleted and I get accused f stealing my own content, and now have to waste time that I could spend on more article marketing and seo for my blog, to try to prove that I am the real original author.

It's tough. We recently found someone in India that has reproduced every article my wife has written on her blog. Even her references to me using my name are included on the "fake" site. Since it's very niche-specific, I simply posted a warning message in the few dozen niche forums and asked people to help spread the word.

You can prove by dates it's your content. domainingdiva.com, about 4th post down has a sample DMCA notice and instructions on how to use it. DMCA notices will take down all your content that is not credited to you. The host will order the scumbag to remove it.
