Default Which Firefox plugin's do you use?

Hi Warriors

Dont you hate when Internet explorer crashes!

Ive finally had enough! and i have decided to convert to firefox.

I have heard there are many plugin's for firefox, so i wanted to start a thread to find out which plugins are recommend for us in the IM scene and any plugin's that help you out on a day to day basis.

Im sure there will be many different preferences for your specific needs, so a quick review would probably help other people reading this thread. And if you have the download link that would also help.

Thanks for all your input, and i hope 2010 is going well for you so far.

I personally use SEOQuake toolbar but i wanted to add to this question as a newb myself and ask - a lot of people say this and other IM data fetching plugins are no use. is this right? and if so what's a better way to obtain the sort of data you get with these plugins (PR, domain age, backlinks, indexed pages, etc)?

I use a lot, but my favorites are SearchStatus (highlights nofollow links, as well as displays page rank and tons of other useful stats) and the Amazon S3 plugin.

I use Quirk Search Status to tell me PR, Alexa ranking and dofollow link status. There are a lot of other options with the plugin too. The best part is that it is out of the way.

It's not a plugin, but TechSmith (makers of Camtasia) make a handy little program called SanIt that does exactly what you asked about and more--captures the entire webpage by automatically scrolling down the page and saving it in a variety of formats, including PDF with the links still active. They use to have a 30 trial. Don't know of any Firefox plugins that do that.

Since you're just now switching from IE, you might also want to download the Opera browser as well. Some would say as good or better than Firefix, but not as much plugins available. I have several email accounts and where different hats so I have Opera to open to one of my email accounts, though Firefox is my most used browser. Stopped using IE years ago.

My favourites are:

- Firebug - helpful for web designers/coders as you can see the code of a page and also great when you are trying to tweak/change code on a site like a wordpress blog

- 1Password - this isn't a free plugin, but is awesome for remembering all your passwords if you're on Mac

- Google Global - allows you to see the google search results for different countries (very helpful for checking rankings or competition in foreign markets)

- SEOQuake - for SEO information

- S3 Firefox Organizer - allows easy upload to any Amazon S3 account through firefox (also ensures your s3 boxes are secure and all content can't just be grabbed if someone finds out your s3 box id)

Most of these can be found just by going to "Add-Ons" in firefox and then you can find the plugins you want

One of my favorites is Foxit Reader (PDF reader) - replaces the ever so slow Adobe PDF Reader.

Btw, I find that FireFox can randomly crash too, not just IE. A few times it happened for me, it had to do with my Firefox Addons. All I have to do is find the plugin that caused this and deleted it.

Hi Kevin,

"All software sucks - its just that some sucks less"

This was a from the 90's

Too many people are on the "you have to use firefox" bandwagon, but i'll tell you what; on about half my sites 80% of the visitors use IE.

Sure it has its problems, FF does too - why do you think there are so many addons for it; the more you add, the slower it gets! Im not saying either is perfect, in fact, its a good thing there is choice nowadays.

For speed, you wont beat Chrome (my preferance) - i got fed up of firefox being far too slow to use. I dont think id ever use IE except to test my sites in order to see what my visitors see - and they are the most important thing - arent they?

I'll have to come back to this thread and take notes. I'm a sucker for
a good firefox plug in.

What's interesting to me is how you constantly hear marketers sing the praises
of firefox, but of all the non marketers who are computer geek squad types, all
I hear is IE. (I go with the marketers.)

I use:

no/do follow (Backlinks, of course)

fireftp (Gets me on my website in an instant)

clipmarks (Can clip 1000 characters of any page and post it on the 'net. Helps to get
indexed plus gives another SE possibility)

xmarks (Saves your bookmarks so you can access them from any computer)

digg for firefox (For making quick digg bookmarks)

realplayer record plug in (For making copies of videos. loved it for youtube, but hasn't
been showing there lately)

paypal plug in
(Let's you pay sites that don't accept paypal, by giving you a
mastercard number for that transaction)

noscript (For added security. marketers hate it when their viewers have this but I love
using it. I never had any idea when I was on a site I was giving access
sometimes to dozens of third party sites. Not any more. When I need to give
a site access, like aweber or a site to allow me to see a video, I control it
individually. It's not safe running java and having all these sites have a go
at your system.)

Best way to protect yourself from the impending collapse. Club members get wholesale prices on precious metals & can even earn income to purchase their silver & gold.

I do not know a single "geek type" person that ever chose IE over firefox - most are not chrome, but even so .... seriously?

Adblock Plus - remove advertises on websites so page loads a lot faster.

Fasterfox - improves firefox loading speed.

NoDoFollow - highlights nofollow and dofollow links.

SEO Status PageRank/Alexa - shows PR and Alexa rank of the website

Text Link - this one is my favourite. Allows to open website even if it is not a link. Lets say: warriorforum.com I just need to double click the words and warrior forum will open in browser

NoScript !!! Definitely. Recommended by Security expert Steve Gibson & premier computer security training organization SANS.
Roboform -- not free, but Mike Filsaime convinced me to use this, and I've never been sorry.
Session Manager -- still don't like FF's session manager support, so I'll continue to use this plugin.
BetterPrivacy -- deletes "LSOs" -- aka flash cookies -- but I don't think LSO is limited to flash.
BarTab -- I JUST discovered this -- and I am SOOOO thrilled. Let's say Firefox crashed. Let's say you had open various youtube videos, Frank Kern sales videos, training videos, etc. Do you know how LONG it takes for you to get your browser back? Too dang long. This extension only loads the pages as you click on the tab, and not before. NO MORE 20 different voices yelling at you!
DownThemAll! -- unfortunately, it won't download stuff sold thru RAP for some reason -- but for everything else? Awesome. Got 40 pieces to download on that new product you just bought? No problem! Just open up DTA and you can select what you want to get downloaded and then be on your way. (Note that the preferences defaults to removing each successful download from the list on closing -- you may want to change that, if you forget where and even WHAT you downloaded.)
Tree Style Tabs -- you can put the tabs on the left, the right, the top or the bottom. Also some slick additions. While it's been a part of firefox add-ons for a long time, recently it came up as "experimental" -- I don't know why. The developer, piro, has some other tab-related extensions worth looking at.
ColorfulTabs -- just tried out ChromaTab -- but didn't seem to operate the way it's advertised -- perhaps that's because of noscript.
Webdeveloper
Firebug

-- these two on some profiles. (I have a LOT of firefox profiles -- I generally run multiple instances of Firefox -- which takes a little bit of configuration -- but it's cool! I frequently use different themes to tell the difference between them, but I'm starting to use a different scheme, as I have more profiles than there are themes that I would want to use.)

PLUGINS I turn off:
Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant
Skype Extension for Firefox
PayPal Plugin (except for one Firefox profile, where I keep it on.)
