Membership Site Niche's

I want to start a membership site, but am having trouble finding out which niche's are profitable.

I don't consider myself to be an IM expert by any means, but don't know what other types of membership sites people pay to join. I don't personally belong to any outside the IM niche.

    Spend an afternoon researching niches that you can get some free Google traffic to--even if you can't provide the content. Then, once you have a few possible niches, think through where you can go to find someone to provide you content at a reasonable price point.

    I have a martial arts membership site. I know nothing about martial arts, but I found a small martial arts niche that I could get good search position for--then I contacted some people and found someone who, for $50 a video, could produce video content for the site.

    You can do something similar.

    Really, just about any niche where there is an insatiable appetite for information can be a good candidate for making a membership site.

    While "make money," "weight loss," "fitness," and "porn" are some of the big ones, but do a little digging and you'll find hundreds of other niches suitable for making a membership site... but it will require you to roll up your sleeves and do some research.

    The mainstream and evergreen niches can be very profitable for you but don't overlook the smaller more tightly focused niches as they can also be just as profitable and in some cases maybe even more profitable based on the long term committment from the members.

    A fantastic example is what Kevin mentions in his post and to follow-up with his marital arts example you could pursue a site based around MMA (UFC) - that stuff is crazy hot right now....Go Hardy and Carwin!!!!

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions. It is interesting to know that you are making money with membership sites on MMA stuff. Are you showing in your videos how to perform MMA moves or something?

    I see several free MMA sites out there for example, so it is interesting to me that there are people willing to pay a membership fee to read or view content on it. Interesting.

    Where to do the research I guess is what I don't understand.
