Does proxy software work with everything? E.g. Hide my ip software which changes IP at a computer level and not a browser level? I assume it would?

One question though, I have used the software to successfully change my ip and it works when checking my ip through independent checkers... However when for instance I max out on Yahoo site explorer, and get the 999 error message, I clear cookies and I change ip, however Yahoo site explorer still doesnt allow me to check.

I want to use proxy software to change ip and it looks like this software changes right just like buying private proxies but am confused at the 999 error and not being able to get past it.

No, most only work WITH your browser, not with your computer. If you are really looking for something like that which doesn't give out your real IP address, look into dynamic IP addresses, and those are provided from your internet service provider. Right now your IP address is already Dynamic, so I suggest trying to use that to your advantage by learning how to make your modem change your IP address more frequently.

This allows your IP to be reset from the modem itself, which in turn would reset and chance the IP address for your computer as well. BUT, you should also keep in mind the fact that your computer has a name, and that name may be what is making you max out as well. So do you change the registered name of your computer too, when trying to change proxies?

Right click on my computer, and you will see what I'm talking about, where it says "registered user". If you are on a laptop, it's usually the name of your laptop with some sort of number by default. However many programs and websites do log that information and keep it for future references....as it's a really easy way to see who is doing what, when it comes to proxies and IP changes (especially if they aren't aware of this either).

Thanks acraisal. Proxies must work on some level though otherwise people would be able to use them with Craiglist etc?

How do you change proxy at a modem/router leve? Ive Googled, however it seems very very complex.

Just unplug your modem and restart for a new ip.
