Make Money Keywords, are they worth going after?

Everyone has search for that keyword or some variance of it, there are clearly a lot of competing pages on Google, Bing, Yahoo etc etc for sites trying to get to the top. But isn't that what we all want to do, whether its an affilitate product, and MLM, or some sort of jedi mind trick matrix, we all want to make money.

So my question of the day is this, with all the competition in these keywords, is it smart to go after 'Make money" keywords?

I think going after the long tail keywords are probably the best way now days. Why fight with so much competition? You can make a great income with using the long tail.

Two things; First, there is in infinite number of markets and niches, "make money online" isn't all that special a market. Considering the amount of money people spend online every day in other markets, I have never really understood why this market is so friggin' popular. If you don't have some vested stake in it, why bother?

Second; Bottom feeding on long tail keywords as your primary focus is fine, if that is your thing...I would rather be a player, then just catch foul balls...but that's just me. To be clear, I'm in no way saying that long tail keywords are not important, in many instances there is little immediate money in chasing general terms. What I am saying is that you shouldn't be afraid to aggressively compete for the most profitable terms, regardless of whether they are long, or short...follow the money, wherever it leads.

Too much stategy is placed on keywords.

Im not saying they arent important. But you didnt say *who* and *what* you are targetting......

If its natural search engine placements - "make money" ? forget about it!

But there are plenty of people to go around in the "make money" niche to target if you think about your angle. i.e how are you going to target your chosen audience?

Eight bytes walk into a bar. The bartender asks, “Can I get you anything?”
“Yeah,” reply the bytes. “Make us a double.”

I was thinking the same way, being a student of NanoBloggers I follow the concept of the going after the market i.e. the customer rather than the keyword but was wonder how effective it would be to chase the "make money' keyword strings.

If you want to go after the make money niche( for simplicity sake I will assume this means internet marketing)why not go down a tier.

Instead of targeting highly competitive words like make money and make money online and selling products to people just entering this market.

Target people who have taken the plunge but are struggling people looking for niches, traffic, back links, software and more advance methods.

Then you can target words that are less competitive and also more targeted.

Words like Get Back links, get more traffic, best webhosting (bit competitive that one)best keyword software etc

Which are still competitive but maybe a little less so.

As a newbie, I've been struggling with all the different keyword strategies. It would seem to me that the approach for organic vs. paid traffic method would be different, but I haven't been able to nail down a complete understand as of yet. I'm concentrating on organic traffic via blog post and article marketing. The long tail keyword concept looks promising.

Your right where I was, I'm a big dumb monkey sometimes and it took me forever to understand keyword research, long tail keywords, etc etc. And everyone you talk to has a different opinion on how to do the research, what are good results, what are bad results. Its certainly can get frustrating.

I did the paid traffic method and I found it to be a complete waste of time and money. Your doing good doing the posts and article marketing stick with those until you have them down pat then move onto another type of method. That is how I am doing it and makes my life easier rather than jumping from concept to concept.
