Will using Robot.txt remove an indexed page?

Hi Warriors

I have a page that is index in Google. If I create a robot.txt file will this remove the page from Googles index?

Am not sure if I created the correct file but what I did was create a text file and placed in the

User-agent: *
Disallow: /page.html

Do I just save the file and name it as robots or robots.txt

    Usually robot.txt controls the robots movements through your site. The disallow keeps it from traveling to the page.

      I love this quote from the first paragraph of that article.

      "We run into a lot of people who think that Google runs the web and controls all the sites on it, but that's really not the case."

      They may not control the sites but they certainly control where they appear in search results.

        Do they? They control the algorithm, they control the ability to drop a site, but they don't control your efforts.

        You know if you create sites based upon good research, with proper back linking strategies, and a good funnel of content leading to it, you can rank very highly. Google does not control my efforts, they just set the rules I need to abide by.

        It is just like playing sports. You have rules, you play by the rules, and if you use your talent, practice hard, and execute in the game, you win.

        Add in the fact they have no control of your rankings on Yahoo and Bing.... Game On!
