If they visit your page, THEY WILL OPT IN...with this neat tip

Some probably already know or use this tip, if so please provide additional info if you'd think it helps.

Hey warriors,

I found a cool way to get more comments (on your videos, blogs, etc) AND more opt ins

Okay so I tried an idea I had over the weekend. I wanted to see my conversion go up. I just got into list building, because I truly see the potential in it. Well anyhow here's what I did:

1. I used a heading revealing what it is I wanted to reveal, that of course benefited my targeted audience.

2. I then gave them free info revealing that info, not in an ebook, or a link to another page, I gave it to them right then and there.

3. I had a link underneath that read 'Click here for part 2'

4. After a vistor clicked that link they were taken to another page that with the headlines "Oh, oh! You've reached my members only area, but no worries, I don't want your money. Simply comment here (here was a link to a video I wanted comments on) and when you do, email me your username so I can verify your comment post and I'll send part 2 to you ABSOLUTELY free!

5. I made sure I had my autoresponder set up so that an attachment of the file featuring part 2 would immedietly be sent to my subscribers.

And thats it! Even if you don't get the comment on your post, you still got a new subscriber. I would suggest the following script (not word from word) to avoid looking like a jerk once someone thinks they're out smarting you by NOT giving you their user name to get the 2nd part of your info.

"Okay, okay, you win. Part 2 is yours. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on part 1 and part 2, but I do understand you'd like to have the time to actually take in this good bit of info I'm providing to you...."

What this does is imply that you thank them for leaving feedback on part 1, part 2 or both. So no freebie subscribers can ever call you a phony.

Thanks for this neat little tip.

I've seen it suggested before to write an article and then put in the resource box for part 2 click here (not allowed at ezinearticles.)

I never thought about doing it this way for opt in material. Thank you very much.

No the comment is just a bonus, if they choose to do so. You ask them to comment and then send some sort of "confirmation" that they did indeed comment, for example their screen name, when they opt in or send you an email with the 'proof' they'll be given the link as you've promised them. Hope that makes sense.

Oh and you should get some rest LOL

Hehe, rest would be good :p So basically, they comment, you send them to a second page which has an optin box on along with the second half of the article. If not, I'll sleep and re look after sleep

It work in the same way, simply let them know they'll be getting an email to confirm their request, once confirmed you're able to send the info as promised. You can be honest, double opting is just to ensure you're not sending unwanted mail...which is great for you and your subscribers.

Designing your free content in this way is an excellent strategy for many niches.

You may go beyond just 2 parts too.

What you've done so far is set people up to optin and get the second part.

If your series had seven parts and you explained to them that they'll get part 2 immediately when they subscribe then they'll get parts 3-7 sent by email after they subscribe they'll be looking forward to and reading your emails....a huge key to building a responsive list.

So think not just 2 parts....5+ parts.

                    Kindest regards,

Interesting twist. I hadn't thought of it from this angle, but it sure seems obvious once I read it. Thanks...

For language on the confirmed opt-in, you could just say something like:

"Here's part 2, as promised. If you want the rest of the series, all you have to do is confirm that this email reached where it was supposed to go, and that you want the rest of the series. You can do both in one simple click:

      [confirmation link]

Without that confirmation, I can't send you the rest of the information in this series. The system automatically deletes your address after X days so I don't accidentally send email to people who didn't ask for it or don't want it.

If you change your mind, there will be another link just like this in every future message. Just click on it, and the system automatically takes you out of the loop."

I avoid using the word "spam" whenever possible because it may be planting ideas in peoples' heads that were not there before.

That's the same reason I never use the quasi-standard "We hate spam as much as you do..." tag line by a subscribe button. You have the person primed to subscribe, with positive thoughts about what they will receive. Why put negative energy there by using words like spam and hate?

That's where I think your strategy fails.

You're asking your prospects for an extra effort to join your list. If they're in a rush, or they're at work, or they're lazy, they will not take that extra step.

In my opinion, placing the opt-in to access PART 2 is better than going through the whole extra email/comment route.

To be honest, I do not like to be sent email attachments of files.

Particularly if they go to my Outlook Express accounts.

The main reason is because I am on dial-up and attachments can take HOURS to download using dial-up.

I had a guy send me a 7MB pdf attachment (yeah really, coz it had a lot of photographs in it). It took 5 hours to download with Outlook Express.

The second reason is that the file MAY contain subjective components which react with AV software or may be considered as a virus and thus blocked.

Your method has it's good points, but I feel the attachment in the email detracts from this otherwise clever method.

Doesn't need to be an attachment though does it - the next part of the content could be on your site somewhere - either as content or to download from there.

I think this is a brilliant idea and the cogs are turning now as to how I can get this one set up to increase my list conversion.

    TFS!

As I have said before I am currently working on a list
I have been for about a month
Currently the optin rate is about 40% but traffic is dreadful

Other than google adwords what is the best (value for money) paid method to get traffic to the page
Would simply paying for 10,000 visitors have any effect
