Your Sales Could Skyrocket If You Try This

This is an idea I've been using the past couple of weeks, and it's working so well that I thought I'd pass it along.

First of all, this is intended for people with their own products (although I'm sure it can be used in some way if you're an affiliate).

What I'm recommending, essentially, is making use of one of the "live chat" services. I put it on one of my sales pages a couple of weeks ago (a sales page that only subscribers are sent to, not cold traffic), and for an hour or two most days I send an invite to anyone who hangs around on my site for more than a few minutes.

The number of people who chose to buy my product during these couple of hours each day, after some one-on-one time, was amazing to me.

You can instantly reassure them in any areas where they feel uncomfortable, and some people who would clearly have left without ordering have gone ahead and made the purchase, happily.

As a bonus, you get to rewrite your salesletter based on the questions that are asked in the live chats, because you'll start to see patterns of problems that people are having that cause them not to buy.

I've even taken things one step further. This week, I sent out a broadcast email just to those who had subscribed in the past 7 days, and I told them that for the next couple of hours I would be available live on my website.

As soon as people arrived I sent them an invite, and from around 90 people who came and accepted the chat invite, 7 of them bought my product. And these were people who'd seen my sales page several times and had not purchased.

This may or may not be right for your buisness/products, but I thought I'd pass it along. It's something that you rarely see used in this way, and I think a lot of people are missing out on its potential.

It also works like a crash course in marketing/selling, because you learn very quickly what language your potential customers use, and how they like to be spoken to.

If you want to give it a try, you can go for the option I went with: live2support. I honestly don't know how good they are compared to the others who offer this service. I chose them purely because they have a 14 free trial that doesn't even require credit card info to be entered.

One final thing for anyone who wants to try this: I choose to remove the code from my pages when I'm not available to talk, because I don't want the distraction of a "currently offline" box there for someone who would otherwise buy.

Obviously the downside to this is the time it takes you to interact with many people individually, but you'll have to decide if that's right for you or not. But I know this: I never make 7 sales in an hour of a single product, but I did doing this.

If you try this, I'd love to hear how it works for you.

    Alex,

This is a great idea! Here are a few of my thoughts as to why:

    * It gives you as the product owner/developer valuable insight into the psyche of your hottest prospects.

    * If you outsource customer service, it might be valuable training for new people.

    * For that matter, if you earn enough per sale, it may be worth your time just to hire someone to chat for 8 hours a day, or whatever.

    Very helpful post.

If you get someone who is prepared to learn all there is about your products, they really can do just as good a job. And it *has* to increase sales if done right.

And once the trial is over, I think it's $15 a month for the basic version. A no-brainer! Even if you just use it a couple of hours a month as a research tool.

This is a great idea Alex, thank you for sharing.

Any instructions on how to set up the chat function on your sales pages?

Nothing to sell, only value to give and new knowledge to learn.

It's amazingly simple. You just choose a couple of options with check boxes, then paste a couple of lines of code onto the pages you want to have this feature on.

You can also just use an invisible mode, where no one can contact you, but you can track who's on your site, how long they've been there, where they are in the world, and so on. And at any time you can invite them to chat.

It's a great thing to be able to play around with for free!

    Alex - this is great.

In one of my niches people are pretty apprehensive about buying digital products online.

I think this could really help put them at ease.

Alex, this is a great idea, I'm just curious though, about how long do you chat with each person. I know some people can talk for hours asking every single question under the sun. Do you eventually just cut them off, if they seem a little too chatty?

I find a lot of people just have a couple of questions and they're out of there. It's amazing how many people want to know about things like the guarantee, how they access their product etc, even though it's stated in the sales letter.

I think they just like to confirm it with someone human!

What I've found is that it doesn't take any more time talking to ten people than it does talking to one. But occasionally there are people who just want to chat, and that's okay for a while, but eventually you just need to "go for the close," to use sales talk.

It's a great way to learn to sell your products, and it's probably the only way you'll ever be able to sell one-on-one online.

I've been doing this on a relatively low-priced product, but I'd imagine it would work even better on a higher-priced item, where people will generally have more objections.

People like to buy from people they know. With so
much choice available, many people default to a
social reference point. Their friends may not be the
best sources of information, and they know it, but
    at least they trust them.

Thus if you get on the inner circle you have a massive
advantage as a marketer. You become immune to the
normal shield of apathy and distrust most everybody
    carries these days.
