Quoting...Is that copyright infringment??

Is quoting parts from other books in your book copyright infringment? Or even mentioning a book title in your book?

No, as long as you cite the source. There is even an HTML tag for this: <cite>cited info here</cite>

Depends on how much you quote, and what you quote. Just keep it reasonable. There is no legal bright-line rule as to how much is reasonable.

I remeber in college, this is common:
if you cite others paper more than 2 sentences, you will have to give reference. otherwise, it is violation.

I would advise citing it no matter if you only quote one sentence from someone else's work. I have a Bachelor's degree in Communication (just graduated in 2008) and I never heard that two sentence rule.

That's not to say this isn't the rule, just that I always cite everything I quote even it's just a sentence. That's what I'd want someone to do if they were quoting my work.

just want to clarify things: yes, it is better to quote everything, even it is one sentence.

The 2 sentence rule is not some actual published 'rule'. but it is used by a software program to check whether students copies something from internet,

The quote should be reasonable small and you should cite the source. But just because you cite it does not mean you can quote several pages and make it as a content.

As long as you don't take credit for somebody else's work, whether through a formal or informal citation there is nothing to worry about.

Make sure to check on the source first, to see if it prohibits any of its contents being released.
