Problem installing Google Analytics on WP

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble getting google analytics to work correctly on my WP page. It wants me to install in into the main html for the whole site, but I can't seem to find where to edit it. I tried just installing it in the html for one of my blog posts on there, but that didn't work.

Soooo obviously, i don't know how much traffic (if any) that my page is getting.

If you anyone has any idea what i could do to fix this, I would very much appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

All you have to do is install a Google Analytics plugin on your wordpress site and in there it will ask for a Google Analytics ID. This is the number that is called "Web Property ID" inside Google Analytics. It starts with "UA-XXXXXXXX". Just paste it into your plugin and you're done. All you then have to do is log-out of your wp-admin, wait a couple of minutes and go back into your Google Analytics account and check status. You should then get the status that your site is now being tracked.

      Nice!

I've always put it into the footer.php in my theme's directory, but this way is much quicker.

Alternatively, if you want to hardcode it into the HTML, by editing your theme's footer.php file. To do so, click on 'Appearance' in the left hand menu, then 'Editor', then select the Footer.php file for your template.

Paste the google analytics code directly above the </body> tag, click 'Update File' and you're done.

Remember it usually takes 15-20 minutes for google to register that it's working.
