To show the price or not?

hey people,

Has anyone tested the difference between having the price of the product on the sales page or creating curiosity and having it only on the payment page?

what have you found that works best for you?

thanks

People usually want to see the price ASAP. They do not like to search for it.

I have always been looking at it like this: If no price is displayed, then it's probably too expensive.

Yeah for higher end products it works better. However for lower end... (under $500) people's justification comes more from cost than it does from time involved or even quality of the product. So you need to not only list the price point, but give justification for the cost involved.

You should show the price at the salepage. Price is the one of the first thing that people want to know.

    You'll never know.

    You'll have to split-test it.

    No test, no solid results.

What might not work for another, might work for you.

I normally advocate for the price right there, prominent on
    the salesletter.

If you're gonna put the price on the order form I advise this:
make it a nice surprise... as in lower than the reader is
expecting. This way he'll go back and read the letter with
a warm feeling rather than a cold one.

Show the price, but you can make it like "3 easy montly payments of just X" ... to show a reduced price and make them more comfortable on a payment plan.

I think it's definitely a good idea to show the price, you may get a lot more order button clicks if you don't, but they won't convert.

If you want to give the impression of a discounted price, show the retail price in strikethrough text, then in bigger red letter below show the discounted price. Just make sure you're being honest

I normally just leave a sales page if the price isn't prominent. If you are confident that your price is in line with the value of the product, show it.

The rule of thumb is that the more expensive your product is
the more you try and conceal the price. Of course the reader
must reach to a point of uncovering the price but you want
them to see your value proposition BEFORE they see the
    price.

If every copywriter or salesman had his way, he would not
allow any prospect to get the idea of the price until he
wanted to reveal it. This is not always possible anyway.

You'll want to show your price, even in the headline, if the
price is the main selling point (low) as in a SALE.
