Can I make it work this time?

About this time last year, I was trying to make a bit of money via online marketing.

I asked a lot of questions, got a lot of answers(this forum is great), but the subject I chose to try and sell just didn't interest me, I got bored, stopped writing articles, let my subscriptions run out and just gave up.

I have just decided to try this out again, I have found a product on clickbank which is something I'm interested in, so I shouldn't lose focus, or need any motivation to keep working. It is a new product, but doesn't have much gravity, so there hopefully shouldn't be too much competition.

I just have a few questions before I start:

1 - How can I tell how easy or hard it would be to get onto the front page of google?

2 - My plan is to write articles which direct to a pre-sell page, which links to the actual product, is there a better approach I could take?

Cheers,

Sam

As for the "Ease of rank-ability" :p

Choose your keywords well, and you shouldn't have a hard time placing yourself on the first page of google. You might wanna look into purchasing a couple of softwares for that too. Try market Samurai and SE Nuke. They're both great at what they do.

As for the approach, It's basic, but it always works. Start with it, and let things start rolling. You can start modifying and refining your methods then.

I would agree with the above. Your keywords will have a large effect on how you rank in google.

I found a simple, effective method is to drive traffic to a simple blog. Have 10, quality articles posted to it, along with a review page. Have links at the bottom of each blog post pointed to the review. In the review, link several times to the affiliate sales page. Simple.

The way to be successful with affiliate marketing is consistency. Before you start, sit down and develop a time management plan.

    For example, day #1 setup domain, hosting, blog design....day #2 find 100 long-tail uncompetitive keywords....day #3 write 3 articles....etc....etc

The key is to keep yourself accountable, but at the same time, you do not want to burn yourself out.

    Be consistent.

Hope this helps and much success to you.

    Hi,

I think the simplest thing to do is to carry out a quick Google Search on how much competition there and if article websites are ranking in these search results. If there is a lot of competition then its likely that the article websites will rank.
However, you can also try using social networking to drive traffic to your site.

First things first, did you continue to study during that time.

A lot of changes have taken place in a year. Also you can't
just quit for a year and then say, I'm going to be an internet
    marketer today.

But congrats on starting again. Take small steps every day.

It will be easier and you'll learn at a rate that is good for you.

#2 works both ways. You have to test it for yourself. Learn
every thing you can about your niche. Find out why someone
would buy. What probleum does your product solve?

    Sam,

If it's a new or little known product, getting on to the first page of Google for that product should a piece of cake.

The question you need to answer is "are people searching for it."

I could easily get on the first page of Google for the term "purple flying spaghetti monster syndrome" (just made that up) but there'd be no point because nobody is looking for it.

If the product becomes popular, then you'll be in good shape, but until that time you'll have to work the niche itself. Create content that people in that niche are searching for that naturally leads them to buying the product you're promoting.

    Hope that helps.
