Ouch! Do GoArticles or ArticlesBase Get any Inital Traffic After Submission?

Hey,

I can get 200 clicks from articles to my website in one day after I submit to EzineArticles. While seo may be important, there is loads of traffic just from people randomly going to EzineArticles.

Anyway, I was looking at articles submitted to GoArticles and Articlesbase and noticed that 80% of the articles didn't have any views that were submitted recently. I know they're good for backlinking and rankings but there is nothing like getting a surge of visitors right after you submit without having to wait a couple of months.

Has anyone had any success with getting views right off from other directories?

To be honest I have not had much human traffic out of any directories which hasn't come after the article has reached some rank in the SERPs.

Ezine still pulls in some traffic.

Mostly gaining links from these guys.

Goarticles and Articlesbase can both rank VERY well, but as far as initial traffic is concerned there just doesn't seem to be much there. However, if you are writing keyword rich articles I would still use those directories.

It seems that articlesbase is really gaining momentum, as I have seen many of these articles ranking very high on Google for some nice keyword phrases. Of course we all know that on-page optimization is only half of the battle

Keep in mind that Articles Base is a Nofollow site. So it won't help increase your site's Google ranking much.

In that case it almost seems worthless. Unless you want to link to the articles you have on articlesbase. I'd rather build my own real estate so I guess I won't be using them. I was hoping I could squeeze out even 10 clicks to my site per article after putting my article up for 24 hours.

        Oh well...

I've submitted my first 20 articles to EA and already I'm seeing good results in Google serps after just 1 month!

Just out of interest, does anyone know of any article directories that allow 'dofollow' backlinks?

My average article at EzineArticles gets at least 50 clicks after the first couple of days. I've even built lists of 100 per day from Ezine right away. I love ranking for articles too. But...

    1. You don't always rank.
    2. You rank well but don't get any traffic even though ever kw tool says you should.

This is why I try and write for ranking and for people searching the article directories.

I am definitely happy just submitting to EA for initial traffic and rankings. Maybe I'll just use the other directories for backlinks only. Thanks

It sounds like for your purposes, EZA is the best choice for you. Since, you are after quick traffic. Sounds like you're in the Make Money niche.

I personally don't write for people surfing the article directories. I write for long-term search engine traffic, which I've done well with getting. If your article gets good SEO ranking on the first page, it can bring in a lot of targeted traffic over months, and sometimes years.

Again, it all depends on your online strategy and who your articles are targeting.

Some of the clicks that is going through that ezine article initially is because of competitors looking to see how you funnel your traffic. They are basically trying to see how you perform your campaign if they notice that you have a lot of content for the particular niche.

Another reason articles in ezine are getting that initial surge of traffic is the layout of its pages. Below its main article is a list of recently submitted articles that the visitor usually scrolls down to if they didn't click out to the above articles resource box.

Unfortunately other article directories do not have their site set up the same way as ezine to get that initial burst of traffic. It is all a seo/backlinking game plan when it comes to the other article directories.

Chances are initial traffic from ezinearticles before your sites indexed is traffic from your competitors reading your articles. Conversions don't usually come from my experience until after and article has been indexed and ranked in the search engine.

I'm just getting started in this, but I've been blogging off and on for almost a decade so my initial bias is toward blogs. I'd like a reality check.

If you have a decent blog linking to your main site, do article directories offer much incremental uplift in terms of affecting page rank, or are they primarily a mode of syndicating your content that points back to your main site?

Similarly, what're the relative pros and cons of syndicating your articles straight to ezines and newsletter publishers versus an article directory service?

Maybe it's not OR, but AND. Regardless, I'm curious how they compare.

I have never had any referral traffic from goarticles even though I have over 400 articles there. I usually check my stats for referrals.
