Am I Plagiarizing Eban's Squeeze Page?

Is what brought to my attention that i'm plagiarizing his squeeze page.
Yes i did use it as a template for my squeeze page but i didn't think much of it.

Here is the page in question (Original Squeeze Page): doubleyourdating.com/channels/video/

Here is mine: decluttermastery.com

Am i not allowed to do so... please advise

The sites are similar but not a direct copy, so IMHO no you did not plagiarize.

I also want to know if i'm allowed to do this. Am i allowed to use someone else squeeze page as a template. Am i crossing any boundaries using this method?

If that's plagiarism, then about a million other sites are guilty.

Nothing wrong with modeling the look of someone's page. Every page on the web can't look totally unique.

looking at the source code for both sites, I do not see anything that you copied that is unique to his site. You both have tables that are basically the same, you have some styling aspects that are named the same.

Again IMHO and IANAL I do not see anything that constitutes plagiarism.

It's not plagarism but is a copyright violation because you said you used his template and doing so is stealing his work. (If you saved the page and modified it.)

If you want to model someones site, you should recreate it yourself.

This isn't the place to ask for any kind of legal advice. As you've seen, you'll get conflicting answers.

    Why don't you ask Eben?

He knows that his original site was probably the most ripped-off squeeze page ever (even Frank Kern has used it) and I'm reasonably confident that he and his team will respect you for asking.

All you've done is taken his headline and modified it your niche. Consider it's a template headline that's probably available in most copywriting books then you've not done anything wrong.

Personally I don't like this style of template, I prefer to have a graphical image of the product, but then I'm not in the dating or declutter niche, so testing may prove these markets aren't fussed for graphics.

You need to remember that you don't need to re-invent the wheel, but it would be worth split testing this against a different format rather than assuming that Eban's template is the best.

I would call that "swiping". Eben did once say that his page was the "most ripped of squeeze page" in internet marketing. I mean, I did that for one of my niche sites:

Who exactly accused you of plagiarizing? Eben?

    Zoul,

You've just used a template that's been proven to convert well. There's nothing wring with that. As other have already stated. You're in the clear!

Now if the sales copy was the same then that would be a different story all together.

    Best of luck,
    Clare

      Not true.

A template is copyrighted like everything else.

Just because people save and edit the words does NOT make is legal.

Using your thought process, it would be legal for me to hexedit Windows, change the name and sell it as my own.
