it's definetly hard to come back and can take months, but it is possible!

i've had sites thrown into the depths of hell but by continued link building and content creation as well as site analysis checking: keyword density, nofollowed affiliate links, number of external links I was able to come back

If you did manage to get de-indexed it could be a very very long wait, you can apply for relisting and I've known people who have ammended their site and filled in the application with Google and after years never made it back.

In your situation it may well be a few months but nobody really knows.

The other thing to consider is that when you are building backlinks, and with new sites, it is very common for your pages to jump down or even appear to vanish.

Not always a pattern to it, I've certainly had my own and client sites vanish from page 2 or 3 for a few weeks and return on page 1. Just Google digesting and doing its thing.

So what you see may be a result of your promotions rather than your content. Just food for thought...I've not had a site penalized for any kind of duplicate content or anything like that and I've got some sites that are totally comprised of articles from major directories, PLR and RSS feeds and they still rank.

My site is about 3 months old now so does that class as new still? Its all the posts and the only page appearing in Google no matter how far you drill down is the mainurl.com page.

It is still indexed so hopefully should come back . I added a new post this morning and Google indexed it within minutes.

Hopefully that is a good sign?

I would stop your efforts on that site right now.

The next PR update could be the end of your site and all your effort will be wasted.

Personally, I'd create a new site and work on building that one without any greyhat or blackhat methods.

Cloaking is against Google's Terms and Condition. Don't think they will normalize everything straight away. Suggestion: Get a new domain name and start fresh doing white-hat stuff only. This will make sure you wont get penalized again.

Did the rank you had achieved result from the cloaking? If so... you probably have an awful lot of work to do to achieve the same level again.

Did you mail them back ? It could take time before Google spam team found your email and take a look at your site since there are queues awaiting. However, if your site was penalized because of some serious activity like you said, they might ignore your re-inclusion request.

It should take time between 2 weeks - 6 months. Has your site got backlinks yet? I mean backlink via link: operator. Depending upon the actual mistake your site is reconsidered. Try not maintain any secrecy with Google, herein onwards.

Had similar problem with two of my sites and google never gave any clear cut reason for ban or de-indexing, I tried re-inclusion requests but it doesn't work at all. I searched their forums and found that google can ban / de-index any site if they feel that site doesn't provide any value to users.

I guess the simplest solution (may be) is you check your robot.txt file it might have been changed to prevent search engines from entering your site.

Have you tried to search your domain on Google? If it is being cache then its building up again.. You are doing good, just linkbuild it and get as many as quality and relevant links to your site.

Seriously? Google does not control the internet. The only thing they control is how sites show up in their searches. The only reason they have any power is because they have done a better job than the other search engines. That has caused most everyone that searches for anything to use them.

Remember their customers are not the website owners or advertisers. Google's really customers are the people typing in the search terms. As long as they do the best job at returning results that searchers are looking for then they will continue to stay on top. As soon as someone else comes along that does a better job then they will start losing market share. It was not all that long ago that Yahoo was top dog but then Google came along and did a better job so now they are the one to beat.

While there are exceptions most everyone that has been whacked by Google was trying to game the systems in some way. It is a bit like speeding. If you drive faster than you should you take that chance on getting a ticket, if you were actually speeding you have no business whining about the ticket.

I am curious, too. When you say "content cloaking" - is that via some kind of plugin that adds html or other characters to the post so it looks "original" to google?

Google only controls a percentage of the traffic on the Internet. There are many other ways to get traffic than to depend on Google. I don't think they've "got us all by the nuts" at all LOL.

But what is "content cloaking" is that scrapping contents from some other sources?

If it is, you won't be penalized at all. It is just a duplication content which Google doesn't penalize duplication content.

Is it what Wikipedia is describing:

Cloaking is a black hat search engine optimization (SEO) technique in which the content presented to the search engine spider is different to that presented to the user's browser. This is done by delivering content based on the IP addresses or the User-Agent HTTP header of the user requesting the page. When a user is identified as a search engine spider, a server-side script delivers a different version of the web page, one that contains content not present on the visible page. cloaking is really bad in Google's eyes (actually the worst thing you can do!) , i really hope you get your site back...but...you probably might want to re-start from scratch on a new domain. I have seen sites penalized which simply never got "healthy"...even after Google re-inclusion request etc.

Hmmmm - cloaking is the worst thing you can do?

I was just looking at a WP plugin to cloak affiliate links.

It takes the affiliate link
_ww.clickbank.heidiaffiliate.whatever*9780008sjajf land/specialoffer

and changes it to: _ww.mydomain.com/specialoffer

Is that the kind of cloaking that will get us in trouble, or are you guys talking about something different?

I'm assuming the problem was not simply cloaking links - many do that.

Cloaking content is showing one content to the Search engines and another to visitors.

There is only one reason to do that - and that is attempting to fool the search engines. When you decide you are smarter than google - you put yourself at risk.
