An Optin That Doesnt' Redirect - Keeps them on the page

Hey,

I've seen this on a few sites in the widgets section or in the main sales page - an optin that allows you to collect email addresses without redirecting the user.

Once they opt in - a small thank you appears in the text. The user is never redirected elsewhere to a thank you page (of course they do get a confirmation email with a link to their download in their inbox).

The advantage is that you can collect an email address while still keeping the user on the main sales page.

I had this bookmarked - pretty sure it was a Warrior who coded this plugin.

And before someone suggests - this feature is not available in PopUp Domintation or WP Subscribers.

If any warrior can direct me to this - let me know.

I think it really depends on which email service you use.

I'm not sure but I dont think Aweber has an ajax-enabled optin. But they might.

Is 'Ajax' the key to pulling off what I'm talking about?

I want this so badly I might just hire someone on oDesk to code it for me :-)

I dont think this is what you're talking about, BUT you can always set the redirect URL as the page they were on when they subscribed.

That would at least (kind of) do the same thing until you get things figured out.

    @ Who's that Guru

Yeah it would keep them on the same page. It doesn't disrupt their reading of the sales page.

I sold a script a few years ago called 'Sign 'n Stay' that did what I think you are asking for. It is no longer on sale but if there is interest I will dig it out and brush it off.

From a programming point of view, it is not difficult to do. Making items appear and hide on a web page can be done with an mouse click commands.

Typically, I use on mouse click up to show new items on the page, this can occur when the submit is clicked. However, you have to change what the submit does, it has to submit to your own database instead of something like aweber and the link to your thank you will appear on the up click. Program like Aweber have a a redirect built into them and it's tricky to defeat them.

This is all done with jquery or similar languages. Edit such as WYSIWYG Web Builder, etc. have these functions built into them.

You can do so by using JotForm and integrate it with your Autoresponder (Awber, mailchimp or so) . Jotform will simply show a thank you msg or asking user to verify email on the same spot (Its much like an iframe based form but not iframe exactly) .

Make sure to setup the the thank you page in their form builder to "not to redirect" anywhere.

Alright - I'll check out jotform - I certainly can't switch to getresponse with all the thousands of users I have locked into Aweber ;-)

    Thanks for the responses.
