Social News/Bookmarking Confusion.....

Hi there, trying to learn ways of making a blog rank well and have read about some techniques using social media sites.......

1/ I have read that I could for example submit a snippet of the post to social news sites like Digg, Reddit and Propeller.

2/Then bookmark my social news snippets, or article submission using three or four social bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon, Mr. Wong, Delicious, Mixx, BizSugar, Yahoo My Web, Faves, Simpy or Google Bookmarks.

Ok... I really hope this is not a stupid question but what is the difference between a social news site and a bookmarking site? To be honest I thought they were the same thing so I hope someone can explain the difference. I have used socialmarker to bookmark before and have have used snippets of the article in the descriptions so that is why I thought it was the same thing.

thanks if you can make this clearer for me.

There is no difference. Its just 2 ways of saying the same thing. They are all social bookmarking sites.

thanks Redfox, just wondering why one would submit a snippet to a new site and then bookmark this snippet, thats like doing same thing twice then? these were instructions on "jiggling web" blog and I know their info works, i'm just trying to understand it before following it.

thanks again for any further comments.

I think the technique you are referring to is this:

    1. Digg your site
    2. Make lots of bookmarks pointing to your Digg bookmark

As your Digg bookmark is a very high PR keyword targeted page, it is simple to get this ranking well in the search engines. When people arrive at your bookmarks page, there is nothing to click on but the link to your website.

Just don't forget to use the desired keyword as the description and bookmark title.

    Cheers,
