No matter what the spin, its stealing. Its as if because someone left their back door open on their home people can come in and take what they want.

In Asia I can buy the latest movies for $5.00 including some before they appear in theatres. The pirate only has the cost of reproduction to deal with. There are no costs to steal the movie and they operate in the open with very little worry. That doesn't make it right though.

So now we can steal "ethically"? That is pretty interesting. The world is going to hell real quickly. If this wasn't so sad it would be funny.

Actually this post brings to our attention how vulnerable we are when we dont use encrypted or "hidden from public" download pages.

When I see a website advertising an ebook or something I am interested in, the first thing I do is Google the item to see if there are reviews.
I do sometimes get the download page in the results.

We need to make sure when we are selling downloadable products we use a service that allows us to protect the download page from public "free" view.

If you are not protecting your download pages, take this thread as a warning that you are loosing money.

Maybe other Warriors can suggest such a service or solution.

I for one use www.E-Junkie.com. I have been working with them for about a year and have to say they are great and very affordable.

For $5 a month you can have up to 10 products with up to 50mb of storage space. It secures your products and protects them. Not to mention you can run your affiliate program though them and there is NO FEES!

You can get bigger packages, I will be upgrading soon since I am pretty much out of room. They also accept lots of different payment processors and you get unlimited bandwidth.

I could go on and on hyping them up but you should just check it out for yourself. After all what other site will secure your downloads and run your affiliate program for a $5 flat fee?

BTW I have had a few peeps try to steal my stuff by only paying $0.01 and E-Junkie stops them dead in their tracks and sends me an email. Since I had their email addy I sent them a message letting them know they are busted.

Then told them I would give them a free copy of the product if they signed up as an affiliate, promoted it and made 5 sales. To boot they get paid half of the sale price. Made some good affiliates this way.

They have a lot more features than what I have mentioned including the ability to use coupon codes and cross promote your products. I will be using the coupon code for my new WSO. I have never used it before so I will see how it works.

Austin, do you let the owners of those pages know?

David, thanks for reporting that to their host. Everyone needs to report this crap so we can get it removed.

I wonder how the "author" of that piece of $*#( would like it if people used his methods to get that product free.

You'd be surprised to find out how many things you can get using advanced searches on google ... It doesn't mean I recommend doing that!!

I get PM from thieves on DP forums offering "free" ebooks including WSO's. This one site is charging $9.95 per month to get access to stolen products and they claim the same BS. If I can find it searching Google it's free. I did a whois and the site is hosted on a server in China so good luck shutting those thieves down.

That is why as information marketers it's imperative to use something like DLGuard or easyClickGuard. E-junkie does the trick as well and it's only $5/month.

If you insist on going bareback don't upload your ebooks to the same server/domain. You have Domain #1 where you sell your ebook but upload it in a zipped file buried in a couple folders on a completly different domain so the DL link is at Domain #2. And use that just for that purpose.

Usually in these sorts of discussions someone recommends DLguard (not an aff link) - looks like it's my turn. There are other solutions out there, but the consensus is that they're all decidedly inferior to DLguard.

      Thanks for the recommendation, Melkor!

Unforuntatly there are a LOT of these people around - they somehow believe that if it's possible to break into a site and steal a product, then it's okay because "the owner should have put better security in place".

They'll swear black and blue that they're not doing anything wrong. The scary thing is, they actually truely believe that.

It guess it's a good thing in a way - after all, if it wasn't for these people all of the people in law enforcement, courts, and jail systems would be unemployed.

      cheers

Hey dude, not sure if it's real stuff anymore. I chanced upon a website last night where I could download software for a lifetime access.. All I had to pay was $4.87. Upon signing up, I somehow got signed up for a porn site too. It really scared me.I had to cancel my credit card immediately.

Well I guess, you just have to be careful especially when it comes to such GREAT DEALS. =P Just keep ya heads up.. I hope you get your answer to the question you were looking for!

I get emails all the time from digitalpoint scam warez forum and I am not even a member.. Always linking to a WSO here on WF and then take you to their DP sales pages to buy..

I have my own custom coded built system for my downloads so people like this can not steal what I have.
